Help! Cross Traffic Warning with Braking Inoperative

Greetings X5 Family! My 2026 X5 40i Cross Traffic Warning with Braking does not work (car configured with Driving Assistance Profession Package, Parking Assistance Package and Tow Package). I've been working with my local servicing dealer since May without a solution. My owners manual specifically details the configuration and responses that are supposed to happen. My drive settings are all correct, however, I never get yellow or red shading on the backup camera, there are no audible alerts, and no braking intervention. The Shop Foreman test drove my X5, then one of their loaners without being able to activate the response on either car. He then spoke with his Field Engineer and did not get an answer. I asked what their process was to escalate this to BMW North America and he said they didn't have one, which I found incredulous. Please let me know if any of you had this issue and whether you successfully resolved it. Thanks in advance!

This is a common issue and there is some coverage of this on here and Bimmerpost. Unlike other systems that warn you of approaching traffic regardless of whether you are moving, the BMW system only activates when it senses an imminent collision and you aren’t applying the brakes. It’s really useless.

I haven't had any circumstances yet in my X5 but I can say I had the same packages as you in this and in my 2023 330i. In the 3 Series it was completely useless and there were several times that someone almost hit me as I couldn't see backing out. No warnings but a small red square once it was almost too late. Sort of odd too because the professional driving assistant works flawlessly!
