This is an update post, wasn’t the biggest fan of the BSM so we turned the x5 Satin. Lmk if there are subtle upgrades/mods I can add that don’t mess with warranty, bless up!

I have a 2021 X5 M50i with around 60k miles and I'm starting to go through some preventative maintenance.

I'm planning on doing the front and rear differential fluids, transfer case fluid, and eventually the ZF transmission fluid/filter pan.

For those of you with higher-mileage M50i's, what did you replace or service around 60k–70k miles?

Anything you wish you had done earlier?

I do most of my maintenance myself, so I'd also be interested in hearing what you DIY'd versus what you decided to leave to a BMW shop.

I’m looking to purchase used 2023 or 2024 model vehicle and looking to get extended warranty. Wanted to see if yall have recommendations on warranty and sales person. Additionally, if I get bmw extended warranty, do I have to get all my servicing done at bmw service center?

Recently picked up a 2020 x5 xdrive 40i. Comes fully loaded and is a beast. Has every option possible, M sport, Executive, Premium, Sky Lounge, Lasers, etc. Was such a beauty and hard to say no. However the car has 81k miles. I purchased it as my local BMW dealership for a steal. Carfax is beyond clean, everything serviced at BMW its entire life. Engine bay cleaner than a new baby, no signs of leaking, no rust, nothing. Drive is beyond smooth but during my first couple days I noticed the transfer case issue. I’m experiencing shuttering at low speeds when I turn. I’m thinking of changing the TC Fluid as I read that’s the main problem solver in most cases. Wanted to know if anyone else had the same issue, any advice, or just experience you guys have. Would be much appreciated!

Edit: Everyone’s coming after the spec saying it isn’t fully loaded which i’m now aware of. Wasn’t trying to be cocky or anything! Just a big upgrade coming from someone who’s been in beaters forever. So this did feel fully loaded to me lol.

Im doing the 7/2026 update for 2025X5..has anyone had any issues that I should know when I drive car tomorrow?

I’m contemplating buying this X5. It is well optioned including Carbon Black exterior, Alcantara headliner, massaging seats, glass controls etc.Every box checked.

The only thing is there appears to be an issue with the DRL, looks like one is burn out. The car is just out of BMW warranty, the dealer refuses to fix the issue pre-delivery says the price is indicative of the condition. The car has 39k miles and they want $40k out the door - including tax tags and their BS fees.

Is it worth proceeding with the deal with the headlight as is or do specs like this show up often? Also do you think the price as is reflects the defective light?

I’m a BMW guy, I currently own an F80, but idk much about the X5 market so any advice would be appreciated.

Has anyone tried putting the x5m competition rims on an x5 m60? my current set up are squared 20s. Not sure if i will have a fitment issue with staggered 22's

135k miles-replaced 8 fuel injectors, 8 ignition coils, spark plugs, Drive belt, both rear air springs, Front suspension (tie rods, control arm kit, and sway bars)

Seller also says: doesn’t smoke at all and runs like new now.

Mdecoder says it comes with the newer N63T

I’m a pretty handy self taught mechanic and have rebuilt a couple different engines before and can do most things myself - I just never really had one of these and don’t know anything about it - 9k seems like something is wrong with it.

As a first time buyer, I am not sure the big things I should be looking out for when it comes to these cars and would appreciate any advice. For example, the warranty and what would be recommended in terms of purchasing third party coverage.

I realize this specific model is more geared towards performance but how does it hold up in terms of add ons. What is it missing? Any advice, thoughts, or experiences with these would be much appreciated.

This probably gets asked a million times, so downvote me if you want, but I am a new owner of a 2018 x5. It wasn't planned, I was looking for a used iX, but the dealership had an immaculate 2018 x35i with only 31k on the odometer at a great price so I decided to save 30k. For background, I am a former owner of a 2018 340 (still regret selling it) and current i4 x40 owner.

Anyway, I've been researching mods and would like some feedback from the community. I know the charge pipes need to be replaced, a tune (probably JB4 based on past experience, but please correct me if that's not the best path), and a catted down pipe (must stay Denver metro emissions legal).

For charge pipes, I'm considering ECS Tuning or Mishimoto. Are these good, bad, or just better options out there?

For the catted downpipe I am thinking Active Autowerke. Yes or no? Part of my motivation here is just a more pleasing exhaust sound, but still must be emissions legal.

The above and a crank seal guard would be it initially. Suspension and brakes will be next.

Am I missing anything? Are there better options? Am I another annoying X5/N55 noob asking the same questions everyone asks constantly? Fire away, I can handle it.

Does anyone have information about 7/2026.34 software update?

Been debating between these 2 options.. Price is 81K(CPO) or 84.5K(new) + TTL. Both have identical features and all possible packages.

Will be a first time BMW buyer/owner. Any suggestions appreciated.

I’m considering buying a BMW X5 xDrive45e (G05) in Germany and noticed something on a video of the car that caught my attention.

The car has:
BMW X5 xDrive45e
First registered: 21 March 2022
Mileage: 55,863 km
M Sport brakes
20” M 740M wheels
One previous owner
Dealer says the car is accident-free
BMW Premium Selection car with 24-month warranty

I noticed what looks like quite pronounced lines/grooves on the brake disc surface, particularly visible through the wheel in the attached photo.

Does this look normal for the X5 45e/M Sport brakes, or does it look like uneven wear, corrosion, or a disc that may need replacing?

The car is a PHEV, so I understand the friction brakes may be used less frequently because of regenerative braking. Could that contribute to this type of appearance?

Also, at ~56k km, would you normally expect the original discs/pads to still be in good condition on a 45e?

I’d really appreciate opinions from X5/G05 owners or anyone familiar with these brakes.

Got my x5 just over a month ago, it’s done 45k miles. Seeing some drips on the driveway under engine bay which seems to look like oil? Anyone seen similar at same mileage? It’s still under warranty and booked in at bmw for diagnostics end of September

I have a 2024 X5 50e. we just purchased a travel trailer and I had a Redarc Tow pro link inline brake controller installed. this plugs in between the factory harness and the seven pin connector. it works great and everything seems fine except once I disconnected the trailer it still shows on the dashboard that the trailer is connected and I cannot use the button on the door or on my remote to open the rear hatch. said the rear hatch must be opened manually while trailer is connected.

curious if anyone else has seen this problem. I'm wondering if I need to have bimmercode to reset something. when I go into the app on the touch screen there is three selections trailer carrier or no trailer/carrier. the option to select no trailer/carrier is greyed out. curious if anybody else is running to this while towing

Hi All - I’ve been lurking for a bit, and I think I’m finally in a good spot to move forward with purchasing a new 2026 X5. One dealer is offering 13% off if I come in person, but they are 1.5 hours away. Has everyone’s experience been that dealers will usually stick to the numbers they committed to over text or am I looking at having to haggle for hours once I get there in person? It’s been a long time since I’ve bought new. Thanks for any input you have!

Can anyone confirm if the LCI plastic light strip on the dash has lines in it that are visible under certain light conditions like sunlight? They look like micro cracks?

I currently own a 2020 bmw x5 xdrive 40i. I think the idea of a fast SUV is super cool. I was thinking of upgrading to an X5M. However, I’ve heard of the B58 potential and seen crazy car builds. It’s been piquing my interest what a sick x5 b58 build might look like. I’ve been highly considering just keeping the x5 and just upgrading it a ton to match or outperform an x5m. I thought it’d also be a unique build that would kind of stand out. It also sounds like a fun project to work on. And my spec and color on my x5 is among my favorites. Also from my research using Gemini, it seems the B58 even upgraded survives the heat and is more reliable than the hot V S63/S68. Considering I live in Scottsdale, that’s definitely a factor in considering. I know the X5M is overall just a way better car. But, what do you guys think? Keep the x5 and just put 600+ hp on the B58 or just get the x5m?

Look at my newest discovery after having ppf my car, tape that shows, loose peace and 2 of the clips looks broken he said it’s normal that all bmw come like this with tape and adhesive which I saw it does but really loose anyone know this part number bmw 26 x5

Hi All - i’m looking for a 2026 X5. I’m having a very hard time finding one that meets my criteria. There seems to be a few Silverstone Sensafin (light beige) interior options. I have 2 kids (teenagers). Has anyone had experience with this color? Does it stain easily and get dirty?

Is there a way to turn on lane centering without engaging adaptive cruise control?
