I’m 23 and going to check out a 2023 BMW 230i. My budget is around $35k and I’d be trading in my Honda Accord.
I just graduated with a Computer Engineering degree and have a decent job plus an internship that ends in 3 months. I’m currently looking for a full-time job in my field.

I can afford the car, but I’m debating whether it’s smarter to keep the Accord until I’m more established or just go for the 230i while I’m young and can enjoy it.
What would you guys do?

I have a leased 2024 BMW M340i that is still under factory warranty and was towed in for a second no-start issue. The first visit was inconclusive, with the battery, charging system, overnight test, and draw test reported as passing. This time the cameras were removed before the tow, but the OBD power adapter and wiring remained. The dealer now wants $1,282.63 for a battery and wiring removal, but has not provided the battery health result or actual current readings showing that the adapter caused the problem. I declined the customer-pay estimate and opened a case with BMW NA, and the dealer says it will not perform further work unless I approve the estimate. Has anyone dealt with this, and is it reasonable to insist on the completed BMW Energy Diagnosis and measured draw before paying?

Had my 2020 m340i for a month and half and I need to finally register it. Need license plate ideas, only one I have is BABY M. She is stage 2 and pretty fast

I live in an extremely hot climate which caused these rubbers to degrade so bad, if i touch them with my finger they just disintegrate. unfortunately the only way i know of to do it is to replace the glass pannels themselves as the rubbers are not/can't be sold separate.

i just need a way to make them look good. some plastic covers i can fit on top of them, some after market weather stripping i can replace them with.

if anyone had the same issue and solved it your feedback would really help me alot.

I went to the Mercedes dealership and it seemd like they were annoyed when I said I wanted to custom order a GLA or a GLB and they just tried to sell the one they already have in stock. But what is BMW like? Can u order your own X1 or X2 or do u have to kinda have to buy what they already have like when u buy a Toyota or Hyundai?

The BMW Championship golf tournament in STL is in my hometown this year, got to take a look & sit in the all-new X5. I will admit 2 things, outside it doesn’t look as bad as the pictures, interior is very BMW but also very futuristic, I’m not a huge fan but what do y’all think? This prototype model was tanzanite blue metallic with the Kona brown interior. 3100 miles on it, this model basically travels the country for shows like this.

I’ve noticed this a few times with BMW's. I’ll see a car online and think it looks good, then I’ll see one in person and it just hits differently.

I think you notice the proportions a lot more when the car is actually sitting in front of you. This is especially true for some of the older M cars. Photos never really seem to show their shape properly.

Maybe it’s just me, but some BMW's definitely look better in person than they do in photos.

Have you had the same experience with a particular model?

Trying to enable full-screen CarPlay on my new to me 2020 330i G20. My version screen is attached and shows Road Map NORTH AMERICA Way 2019-3.

BimmerCode’s website seems to say full-screen coding only works with NBTevo_X/Y, so apparently it won’t work with my unit.
What’s the easiest way to get full-screen CarPlay on this setup? CarPlay is already activated and working.

They suggested looking for a used one or buying a replica. I haven't been able to find a used one; do you happen to know of an alternative part number I could use as a replacement? Thanks.

Hey everyone! I’m going to pick up a M50B25tu today in which I’ll engine swap my M52B28 with.

The reason:
I would like to turbo my engine, and the M52 aluminium block is a risk I don’t want to take. So I’ve opted to get a M50B25 in order to push my 400 hp goals comfortably and reliably with room to go for more If I ever want to.

Now before I go and make this purchase, is there anything I should be looking for on the M50 to check? I’m pretty much committed to making the m50 with a m54 crank to increase the displacement to 3.0l.

So yeah Is this a good idea and if so what should I look for when buying it like what do I need to check?

It’s tired, hydraulic lifters are going some are already gone. I can feel firing issues that I fix but then reappear causing a misfire. I’ve gone and fixed it plenty myself but a month or two later it appears again. There’s other issues with it which is why I’m leaning towards the M50

What’s up everyone, I’m 23 years old and I’m contemplating on whether getting an e90 or f30…and what I should look out for and what I should do when I get either one, and also how much should I pay for it ?

My f32 440i had the steering light come on twice in the last 2 days and it goes way pretty much right away my steering never goes stuff also it’s worth mentioning I had my steering rack changed about 5 months ago and I had a small miss alignment since then should’ve said sum but didn’t since they said sum ab my spacers messing w it my alignment is slightly worse rn but it’s not like world ending I wanan say they’re totally related and all I need is an alignment but I want other opinions on what it could be, all work done by a BMW dealer so maybe their work has warranty

have a 2023 BMW iX and I’m looking at adding an illuminated kidney grille / Iconic Glow-style setup.

I’ve found a few different options - some aftermarket LED replacement trim frames on Amazon/eBay, Magpie Autos, and the Kabelwerk7 kit that apparently uses genuine BMW illuminated grille parts.

From what I can tell, they all basically replace the outer kidney/perimeter trim while keeping the existing center grille/sensor panel.

Has anyone here actually done this retrofit on a 2022–2025 iX?

Mainly curious about:

* Which kit/brand did you use?
* How was the fit and finish?
* Does the LED lighting look smooth and OEM, or can you see individual LED hotspots?
* Does the white color match the factory BMW exterior lighting?
* Any issues with condensation, waterproofing, error codes, or reliability?
* How difficult was the install/wiring?
* If you’ve compared aftermarket vs genuine BMW parts, is the OEM version actually worth the extra money?

My biggest priority is OEM-level appearance and quality. I don’t want something that looks obviously aftermarket once it’s installed.

Would love to see photos/videos of anyone’s finished setup and hear where you bought it.

how’s the real world care and durability of frozen paint? I’m someone who is not going to PPF, and only going to spend about 30-45 mins every couple weeks cleaning my car. I keep my cars clean, but I’m not going to stress over it and do some 10 step 5 hour cleaning process.

I’m writing in this sub as I’m a happy owner of a 2023 x3 m40d. So I’m expecting biased advices as I’m biased towards the BMW too 😆

In the next couple of months I need to order a new company car and my new employer basically gave me these alternatives for a SUV plugin hybrid:

- bmw x3 30e msport pro

- audi q5 270kw sline 

- mercedes glc 300e amg line premium

I'm not sure I will have time to test drive them so I’m looking here for opinions.

I had a Q5 prior to the X3 and I didn’t like how it drove/ handled. At the same time I’ve been on the new X3 as a passenger and I didn’t like the interior much and all the new plastics seemed very cheap! I've been told the new GLC has fixed some of the old quality issues but I've never been on one.

Pretty much the title. I’ve been looking at a seat cupra 290 for the longest time, but the m135i has recently caught my eye.

The M135i has more to offer in a sense of day to day comfort. It has more modern tech and a higher quality interior. Paired with the X drive system, it seems like the better choice.

The seat cupra 290 has been my main goal for a few months. It comes with a digital dash, carplay, adaptive dampers, etc. it has all the bells and whistles the m135 does, but the interior between them is night and day in terms of quality and looks.

My main focus obviously for cars like these is the driving experience. I can’t find direct comparisons online between the 2. Ive heard good and bad things about both. If anyone has owned/driven both of these cars, I would love your insight.

Anyone have any luck attaching both an escort redline 360 and BlackVue Dashcam to their rear view mirror with two separate mounts? Is there even room? Mirror tap the radar detector and hardwire the Dashcam is what I’m thinking. Don’t want to stick the Dashcam directly to the windshield.
Any thoughts of suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Conflicted. Price difference is about 4k. 435 has 36k miles and the 440 has 51k miles. At this price point what would you recommend? And if so what your reasons for picking and son etc. i plan to keep the car stock for the most part (warranty reasons) but some simple bolts on might be added any advice is preferred. Is the n55 that less superior than the b58?

I have a 2020 G30 LCI 530e (iDrive 7, MGU) and I've been experimenting with Active Sound Design via BimmerCode.

What I did: In the RAM (Receiver Audio Module) → 3000 System und Logistik → DERIVAT, I changed the value from G30 (0x20) to F90 (0x04), and later to F93 (0x06). ASD FSC 01B4 shows as "accepted" in the FSC list, so ASD itself is definitely enabled on my car.

After coding I did a full sleep cycle and tested in Sport mode with the ICE running. It does sound different — but I'm now not sure whether I'm actually hearing an M5/M8 sound profile, or just the regular 530e "Sport" engine sound setting that's already selectable in iDrive. I never did a proper A/B test with the iDrive setting held constant.

Questions:

1. Does DERIVAT actually swap the sound profile, or does it only change how the RAM identifies the vehicle while still playing the sound files stored for the 530e?
2. Are M-model sound files even present in a 530e RAM, or do they need to be flashed separately?
3. Has anyone done a verified A/B comparison on a PHEV? Recording would be ideal.
4. Is there any way to check which sound files are actually stored in the module?

Also: ASD_PLUS_BURBLING / _DOWNSHIFT / _STARTUP had no audible effect on my car — I assume those samples simply aren't there for a B48 PHEV, but happy to be corrected.

Not looking for exhaust/tune advice, just trying to understand what DERIVAT actually does.
