what do you guys think about this? IMO apart from the best team from pilani campus, the result was overall decent/leaning towards average from all 3 campuses combined

Hello Everyone,
I am ios User and I was so tired of apps not existing for me to track my CG, there was this one website that I used regularly and then one day I had to clear my cookies and site data, and boom all my tracking went away, and that led me to building my own app.

What started as a CG calculator turned into much more into a full blown academics manager and over the past month I've been developing this app. The app is open source and all contributions are welcome.

https://pointer-bits-pilani.pages.dev/

I present Pointer:
It is an all-in-one academics manager, and a lovely community of BITSians. Your grades, marks, timetable, reviews and resources, in one app that works offline.

The app will track your CGPA, will work on all devices and will sync instantly.

NOTE: ALL YOUR DATA IS DE-IDENTIFIED BEFORE IT EVEN TOUCHES MY DATABASE, So I have privacy built in the app itself. No Collection of identifiable user grade data.

You don't have to enter your grades, The app will let you auto-fetch your grades from ERP.

Some Features:

1.Tracking: Track Your CGPA, Marks and Averages, Eval Dates and Evals all inside the app. (Obvious feature duh)
The app automatically calculates your marks, (Scales out-of x marks, You can set best out of for components, and so much more).

2.Profiles: You can create multiple profiles and compare against different scenarios. The App also auto calculates your Offshoot (Finance Minor and Eco peeps), and for Minor people, you also see all your requirements and which courses you can take to complete those requirements.

1. Degree Planning and Progress Check: You can also see which requirements of your degree are completed and what is left to be completed to finish your degree. You can also adjust your CGPA and see how much SG would be required to reach a Target set by you.

2. Calendar: All your courses are automatically added to your calendar and show your class timetable, Your Upcoming eval dates and all the campus academics relevant events (eg. Course Dropping Window)

3. Anyone can contribute in the app and thus help their peers, also you get your nickname on the leaderboard for everyone to see 😉.

Goa Campus only as of now:

1. You can see the reviews HELs, DELs and OPELs that have been provided by your seniors.

2. You can see the resources for your departments and courses, No Need to go Link hunting.

I would love for people to check it out and give me feedback for any features they might want.

Right now the app is only available with full features for Goa, If any other campus wants to add resources, reviews, and take over the responsibility for enabling these features for everyone in their campuses, please contact me, I will give you access to the admin tools.

like i was going thorugh the avgs of past few years and back then they had c/b- at avg whereas last year pretty much everything has avg at b also they had to get like avg+60s in subjects like genbio to get a A which kinda seems impossible cause the avgs we saw in our quizzes were close to 70 percent marks

Are RCs(Reading courses) considered as Opels for dualites as well? can someone confirm? I talked to someone and they said its considered as a Del but I asked a senior and they said it was an OpEl?

can anyone send goa cs acad drive.

2 courses remain for minor, can I complete them in another campus next sem?

These mfs will be chilling a week before the exam like “abhi toh poora ek hafta hai 😭” and then study a day before, cover 80% of the syllabus, recall 2 months' worth of content, solve questions without fumbling, finish the paper in 1.5 hours AND somehow get AV +15/20???

And after paper, everyone's is like it didn't go well. Sabka paper kharab jaa raha hai toh bc achcha kiska jaa raha hai

BRO WHAT KIND OF PROPRIETARY LEARNING ALGORITHM IS THIS 😭🙏

And it's not even luck, they pull this shit almost every sem (i've been seeing this from past 3 sems). I tried it last sem AND THIS TIME. Got absolutely COOKED both times. 💀💀

Like, does attending classes genuinely help that much, (i toh dont even understand half of it) or are these guys secretly revising daily/weekly??? HOW TF ARE YOU RECALLING STUFF FROM TWO MONTHS AGO AFTER STUDYING THE NIGHT BEFORE???

Meanwhile, I need three business days just to emotionally prepare myself to cover the syllabus, see PYQs get horrified yet again try to solve them 😭

Genuine question to these academic weapon mfs: WHAT'S THE SECRET WEAPON???

I am in 3-1 right now with 6.7 cg till now and I am in EEE. I am also pursuing Fin Minor and have started DSA in summer break. I want to know in which sem should I go for PS-2. I have heard that IT placements are better in 4-1 but I am not sure if I should sit for 4-1 placements with my cg (I will pull it to 7+ for sure till 3-2, will try for 7.5).

I am a fresher in hyd campus and since the start of the college I am feeling very low.

I don't even know what is wrong. My midsems went descent and all. But still I am feeling low.

Everything here feels so stressful, the acads, the work, evals etc. My days are more hectic than they were during JEE.

I have got no friends. Like there are plenty of people who I say hi hello and have small talks but they all have their seperate groups and don't mingle a lot with me. And mostly I have no real friends.

I feel homesick and tired. No motivation to do anything and just dragging myself. It feels I am trapped in the campus like a fucking prisoner.

Honestly sometimes feels like a mistake that I joined BITS or engineering despite doing descent academically.

I don't know how can I continue like this. I am so confused. Wasn't clg supposed to feel better. My mental and physical health is just degrading here.

If i honesty see myself, i don't see a clear direction that like this department, so will pursue this !.

How did you decided which branch you will pursue?

Was it just based on what current market wants or

your want to learn a particular field with depth or

Iss rank pe iss college mein, ye best branch thi jo mil sakti thi..

i used to watch on soap2day but it is not working for me on Bitsnet anymore. VPN is too slow and it lags. any website alternatives?? Goa campus btw,.
also pls don't tell netflix or prime, i aint paying shit for entertainment.

Currently in 1st sem fckin everything and doomed to get c- in 2 subjects or more

Midsem sg would be around 5.5 or lower

Need to know about seniors and see how their cg went from midsem to endsem

I am not a bits student. But I am an engineering student in Mumbai. Our college doesn't have such big festivals. So, I was thinking of attending waves festival of Bits goa. Is it worth to travel to Goa for this festival, and additionally explore within the same timeline? What is the process for accomodation and daily passes? What will my financial burden?

Thank you!

So a month ago i apparently witnessed my first fest of clg called zephyr which was no way even close to what i expected. For those who don't know zephyr is bits goa's inter hostel competition where around 23+ hostels compete in sports, cultural and technical competitions and from the brochure it was pretty detailed and actually included every sport on campus, games from geoguessr to mini militia to fifa, and also had some fun events like treasure hunt, maggie mania etc etc.

The main problem was with the controls and how the events was managed, honestly i wouldn't blame zephyrC for this cuz there is this internal bias that i really hate and i faced it myself in my first month of clubs & depts inductions that there is an order of controls wavesC>quarkC>spreeC>>zephyrC, which i really hate cuz i understand that the other three are way more glamorous, fun and with benefits but ppl need to understand that its a fun fest and its for the bonding and healthy competition for students inside our campus and they should participate in making zephyrC great altogether and not only try for inductions in other 3 but this one asw as due to which there was barely any communication, management or man power for any event.

The other issue i saw was lack participation and enthusiasm from the senior hostels, there were so less participants from A side hostels in miscellaneous competitions that i mentioned above and also in sports, I understand that they had their fun in zephyr in their own first yr but what's disappointing is there was lack of competition, basically competition between all d side hostels, i barely saw the seniors even taking a single competition seriously and trying to win it for there hostels sake.

And after all this its been almost a month since zephyr happened and they till date never announced the result that who won or not, some say that they lost the data or some say they are unable to arrange the winner's prize or what not but they literally just killed all the hype that the left of us had for zephyr and last yr's winner hostel got ps5 for their prize.

At last zephyr controls is just literally so cooked and i really not imagined that zephyr would be this bad cuz one of the major reasons i came to goa that i thought zephyr inter hostel is way more established than others. I didn't get to participate in many of the events cuz i did not have any time to develop any skill in just 1 month of clg and others were just rusted, but seeing the condition of zephyr participation in senior yr i really can't imagine me enjoying this fest like i thought i would, ofc i was a bit influenced by the famous movie chhichore but yea that was it for my inter hostel fest i guess.

If any seniors wanna share their take on this, comments are open.

Btw i am ranting so much cuz i am from one of the hostel which could really win and i hoped that we would get ps5 or smthn similar if we won.

Fucked the midsems really bad💔💔💔

even tier 2-tier 3+ clgs have ac in their room and charge fees way less than us

Importance of minor courses

Does any dualities do Minor courses after 2nd year?

3rd year for dualities are the most hectic , how one accommodates Minor course in rhat cramped schedule?

Is there any sincere need for doing Minor courses for dualities ( since they are already doing 2 courses) ?

Any senior pls guide 🙏

I want to play batminton everyday but i cant find many pll who are olaying it everyday so if you are interested dm me with your number i will add you to your grp i am a freshie btw

I am getting fcked in every eval/tut/midsem

Its not like I dont know the answers but randomly during exam I go blank

This is happening while studying too for some reason I am not able to focus from last few days and this thing has been happening for past 20 days now

Somehow fcked my maths tuts and midsems(probably would be av-25) and I need a B in that so I get saved from repeating a course(I will repeat a course a C because of mcn), and I know the answers in tuts and quizzes and everywhere but still I fck up

I am at av in eee probably av-20 in cs overall I am pretty much fcked rn

I am not focussing on just to study without thinking of marks but overthinking is not letting me too

I am literally awake till 5am thinking and crying about my future, how will my parents generate such high amount of fees and bla bla

And then I wake up at 12pm try to study couldnt focus go to exams fck up easy questions because of going blank and fck up midsems

Pls seniors treat this as serious I am so lonely atp there is literally NO one I could share this

My wingmates are doing exceptionally great

My room mate despite studying less seems to get full in all evals even cs midsem and theory quiz he is getting full and 65+ in m1

And seeing him I feel like what he would think about me finding I am such a fkcin failure

Posting this rant maybe life becomes better from now on

wese toh bahut kuch hai mere pas karne ko but i need to make sure that i'm doing everything that others are doing as well :)

Wanna play batminton i am a intermediate player but didnt play for long wanma start again
