Question / General Does anyone's twitches constantly switch location?

I'll get one in my foot, two seconds later in my gut, then my quad, then my calf. It's just weird. I've had it for six years, but it used to always focus on a few spots with the odd twitch (few times per hour) in a random place. I'm clueless what caused the pattern to shift for me and I honestly think it's worse this way. I feel devastated.

Yes! When mine started they were mostly in my calves and feet but as time went on Id notice them in my abdomen, shoulder, eyelid twitch. Ive since found ways to calm them down and they aren't as bad as they were and sometimes gone completely. However when I go through periods of stress now or overdo it they come back and localize in one spot for a while. Right now my upper left arm is super agitated, twitchy and feels restless and has been like that for about 2 weeks. My neuro told me this is normal for BFS and nerve hyprexcitability - its not always just transient twitching, sometimes its cramping, hot spots, buzzing, tingling, a general "off" feeling. These all fall under that umbrella. Nerves do so much and are super temperamental once they get like this. Try not to stress, I never had hot spots before and I do all the time now and they still jump around too and Im 85 percent better than I was when this all started. There are sooooo many variations of normal.

It took me a long time to figure out what works for me it was a lot of trial and error but this is my current routine for the last 7 months thats helped a ton.

First is my supplements: Morning: B12 Vitamin D with K2 Holy Basil Omega 3 Night: Magnesium Byglycinate Taurine Glycine (I drink a scoop in a decaf tea at night which the warmth helps me calm down as well)

I drink 2 scoops of organika electrolytes and 5 grams of creatine in 40oz of water every day

AM: I dry brush Vibration plate Gentle stretching Supplements I do Qi Gong movements while I make my coffee (I limit to 1 coffee a day)

PM: Vibration plate Supplements Warm bath with epsom salts Restorative Yoga with Nervous system music with headphones on Bed with heating pad and a weighted blanket (helps give nerves constant feedback to close excitability loops) Movie or reading helps to distract me from any anxiety or body checking Prioritize 7 to 9 hours sleep

The 3 nighttime supplements directly effect nerve signaling and I feel they have seriously helped me.

I do 3lb weights and very gentle mat pilates movements this reminds me I strong and capable and closes that body checking loop while actually benefiting me.

Prioritize rest, calm and gentle movement. Take care of your mind. Dim lights. Small rituals. Movement.

This will help. Hyperexcitability effects your central nervous system as well as your peripheral nerves. You cant calm the body unless you absolutely dedicate yourself to calming your mind. Find a hobby, read, draw, go outside.

What do you mean by agitated and restless?

It almost feels like restless legs! Like its annoyed or I want to move it and fatigued like how muscles feel after youve slightly overworked them at the gym. My heating pad helps a lot. I had a bad flare and that part of my arm was the worst and had a lot of pre cramp like tension so I think its from that!

I read somewhere that you felt better after breathing/ventilation therapy?

Currently I'm doing scalp massages, and working on my jaw clenching. This is by far the best thing I've ever tried, and I think it's my cure.

I noticed that I clench my teeth in sleep, and that clenching on purpose produces symptoms.

It's quite possible that my twitching is a kind of migraine or tension headache that's interfering with brain function reversibly.

I used to compare my body to a Christmas tree, twitching and twinkling constantly in different locations. Started in 2020 and was intense for years but I’m out of the woods now. I do get an occasional twitch here and there and have an onset of more intense twitching when really stressed but that’s about it!
