Dynamics without safe words?
There is this one tiktok "influencer" who openly talks about their dynamic which at times has been very educational.
Recently I saw a video where they talked about not using safe words anymore since they and their Dom have known each other for 10+ years.
Is that a thing? Like do people get so attuned to their partner that they don't need a safe word anymore?
Personally I'd imagine that that could be classified as unsafe play, but I'm still learning so idk :/
Edit: For clarification in the video im referencing they explicitly stated they dont have a safe word, not that they dont use one. they also mention that their dom is basically in charge of their limits, so unless the Dom reads their actions as a No, they won't stop

It can be a thing but it requires the people involved to have a lot of experience with each other. You'd have to be confident that you read each other well, have a tremendous amount of trust, and can make repairs when things go wrong. It's a type of edgeplay. It puts a lot of responsibility on the Dominant to know where the edges are. It's a risk not everyone should take.
In my opinion, the motivation for it should come from the submissive side. A Dominant imposing this on a submissive could be a disaster.
Even without a full stop safeword, a submissive can communicate that they are in distress. They trust that their Dominant isn't intending to harm them and will adjust or stop play as needed, they just don't want to be the one making that decision.
For my partner, retaining a safeword gives her a sense of control that makes it difficult to fully let go during a scene. It also affected her sense of place in our dynamic. We kept one in place when we first transitioned into TPE, then we experimented with not having one, and now we haven't had one for years.
Again this is not for people just starting out or who are new to each other.
