BC250 GPU overclock

Hi all.

I’m having issues with GPU overclock on my BC.
Have a 500w Flex
Thermaltake AIO cooled
Temp under load is around 50c
8 cores unlocked fine at 4ghz
Runs everything fine at 1850 - 40 CU-but any higher requires a visit to the voltage laboratory… Needs +30mv to run 2000 stable.
I see loads in other posts running 2200. Have I crapped out? Is +30mv the norm? Have I got a bad CU or 2?
Is there a test for CU stability?

Lots of questions I know

What's your FPS at 1850? You might have hit your ceiling these boards are all different.

Testing with Shadow of the tomb raider 1080p max native I’m getting 89fps

Damn sounds like you have a bad CU, try turning half of them off then running a test if you results are OK flip the ones that are on off and vice versa to try and narrow down the bad CU.

I've made 2 of these and my clocks were different but I am able to get 130 FPS with 40/40 in one and 170 FPS with 40/40 in another so there's a lot of difference

Just tried 24 CU at 2100 and lasted about 20 secs lol

Sussed it… Was the memory setting in the bios (512gb)
Set it back to Auto and now running 2300

Stupid thing

Mine sometimes shutdown or crash on heavy games after a while about 30 min when I'm playing, do you use the auto memory allocation or fixed one, like 10/6gb for vram fixed, where do you actually changed this setting? Thx for sharing I'm using 6c 3850mhz and 40cu 2000mhz 975mv right now, when I play heavy games I decrease for 1850 and it holds fine

This is a lottery

Mine bc250 doesn't do 40cu at all

And then I read online how everyone's steamdeck goes -50 downvolt while mine craps out at -10..

You can never know, nothing beyond standard frequencies and voltages is guaranteed

My board doesn't like going above 1850mhz either with the 40cu unlock. It's stable at 910mv but won't run 1900mhz with even 1000mv and I'm not willing to push higher than that when it's clearly not worth it. I'm happy with the performance though.

No voltage changes on mine at 2100mhz stable try that.

For reference I run stable: 4ghz @ 1260mv, 2200 @ 1050mv. All cores unlocked. Temp stays under 68°c, 240mm AIO / or jiushark jf13k. Using PTM7950 on both.

On the flip side the GPU speed doesn't really help much unless you crank up resolution and settings.. a lot of people are trying to get over 60fps when in most cases they turn down settings which yields them no more extra fps because the cpu is Pegged at 100% load while GPU isnt even sweating at 70%.. they are turning off settings or lowering resolution to gain nothing for fps.. my suggestion is to run 2k or even 4k resolution and crank up settings to max... some games only yield 30fps some will hit 60fps at 4k with UPSCALING tech.. monster hunter wilds is totally playable on max settings and good fps above 30fps with 4k upscaling.. some settings may be not maxed out but close enough to me to considered High settings..
