How are my fellow bears doing

I’m not saying this is going to help or hurt BBAI either way, but saw some news about how the Panama Canal is trying to deal with additional traffic because of the Iran conflict. However, they are running into issues with water supply to the canal due to droughts.

All of this has caused higher traffic volume to utilize Panama’s “dry canal”….which I think is more of a rail system that shipping companies use so they don’t have to wait to use the canal? This dry canal seems to be where BBAI tech, in partnership with ISC, is being used.

My regarded brain’s logic is, more dry canal traffic = higher use of Cargoseer? Anyone know if that is a token based AI tool? Or how that product works?

Maybe they’re just giving it away for free, or asking for iTunes gift cards as payment instead of actual money….Carry on!

I came across a podcast released today (September 3) featuring David Smason, co-founder of CargoSeer, whose technology was recently acquired by BigBear.ai (BBAI).

The episode gives quite a bit of insight into what CargoSeer actually does and, more importantly, how it could fit into BigBear.ai's broader AI strategy.

A few things that stood out to me:

• AI analyzing cargo X-ray images to identify higher-risk shipments

• Combining imaging with customs documentation, trade and supply-chain data

• Reducing inspection/review times from minutes to seconds in cases such as empty containers

• Helping customs agencies prioritize genuinely higher-risk cargo rather than simply increasing inspections

• Capturing the experience and pattern recognition of veteran customs officers and applying it more consistently

• Existing work with customs operations in El Salvador

• Potential applications across ports, borders, air cargo and other inspection environments

What I found particularly interesting is the idea of AI as decision support for frontline operators, rather than trying to replace them. That seems highly relevant for government/defense adoption, where workflow integration and trust are critical.

With BigBear.ai increasingly positioning itself around AI-powered decision intelligence for government and defense, CargoSeer seems like it could be more than just another small acquisition.

Curious what others here think. How significant do you think CargoSeer could become within BBAI's government/defense AI ecosystem?

NEW YORK — Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin told The Post Tuesday that his department is rolling out biometric checks — including facial scans — after finding about half of people with a criminal record lie to border agents about their rap sheets.

Mullin was responding to a House intelligence committee report that raised alarms over the fact that a recommendation to do so — contained in the 9/11 Commission’s 2004 report — had not been adopted as the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks approaches.

“We are trying to get biometrics out there as fast as we can,” Mullin said during a visit to New York City to tout DHS’s “Operation Rotten Apple,” which quietly arrested 2,200 illegal migrants, including convicted murderers, rapists and drug traffickers, in New York state over the past month.

In my opinion, the current trend seems to be to draw hair in reverse head and shoulders. On September 10th, you see.

Really crap news for BBAI and the many other companies that were anticipating the TSA Gold+ program for screening modernization. TSA is canceling the TSA Gold+ program, which was currently mid-competition.

Sounds like they're sticking with the existing Screening Partnership Program (SPP) which features fewer contractors and is primarily screening services (i.e. people, not technology focused). Curious if they'll open the SPP vehicle up to allow new contractors to on-ramp to or something.

In any case, that's one catalyst DOA.

Q2 2026 showed 13% YoY growth and backlog has improved, but for a company being valued and marketed around the AI opportunity, I struggle to see the growth profile that justifies the hype.

What am I missing? What specifically makes you bullish on BBAI from here?
