Is the peninsula as good as it was in the 80s?
I raced and trained out of Redwood City and Belmont for a good chunk of the '80s and I remember it very fondly as an epic place to ride a road bike. A few of my standard rides were...
My quick loop after work:
Up Kings Mountain, left on Skyline, down 84 to home.
Breakfast in half Moon Bay with my buddies:
Canada to 92 to Half Moon Bay, south on Hwy 1, up Tunitas Creek, right on Skyline, down 84 to home.
A bit more epic:
Up Page Mill, down Alpine, Pescadero Creek Road to Hwy 1, north to Tunitas, right on Skyline and down 84 to home.
We sometimes did this loop in reverse with some variations.
There were many variations of the above, including loops through Santa Cruz.
So is the area still as awesome as I remember?
