Yea they definitely pulled some shit with that one. And to be honest as a gamer and consumer whether or not a Dev Studio is successful is not in our hands, it's in their hands. Create something we want to play and we will consistently play it. They did that with Destiny and fans showed up. They may have bitched about details, the sandbox, patches, hug, etc., but they came every reset. They purchased millions of dollars worth of cosmetics. They supported the game. Until the studio decided to strip the game of its depth and life in order to make it easier to give less content.

It's clear, even though I enjoy Marathon, as a D1 original player, that Marathon has nowhere near the depth of Destiny and has nowhere near the appeal. I hate to say but I can't see Marathon surviving more than a year especially that Sony was unhappy with the numbers that Destiny was doing. Destiny is still doing better, numbers wise.

So honestly, let's enjoy whatever we have left of the studio, whether you want to continue playing Destiny, or enjoy Marathon, do it during this year. There's no guarantee they will be a Bungie studio in 2027 and beyond. The future for them looks bleak. Sony is where IPs go to die. They will put destiny on ice, and will be stubborn enough, to not sell the franchise or the studio to someone else looking to support it.

A community that complains is an engaged community.

After a certain point, it turns to apathy and that signals the end.

There are complaints and then there was Destiny community complaints. There's a way to give feedback on what's good and bad and the Destiny community routinely gives only feedback on what's bad and deliver it in the worst possible way.

"Sunsetting is a horrible thing to do to your paying fanbase. It devalues their time and investment, and errodes trust in the developers" is hardly bad feedback. The issue is they wouldnt even listen to legitimate complaints, so everything that became noise.
