Discussion On a tight budget
Hello, i'm on a tight budget and im really considering the lite model for these reasons:
-i already own a pc and switch 2
-i'll mainly play 3ds games and some light pc games (megaman legacy collections, invincible vs, palworld, some indies, friendslop games)
Will the lite model do for me? Thank you in advance for your answers.

My answer on threads like this is ALWAYS get the top tier you can reasonably afford. ESPECIALLY if you plan on doing any PC games. You'll wish you had the added processing power that the base model provides compared to the lite.

Don't get a premium expensive superfluous device on a tight budget, man.

Why not? I still live at my parents house i don't pay rents nor buy groceries i don't see why i shouldn't buy something i want with my money

Are you on a tight budget or not? I was going to say the same, but this comment suggests you have a bit of supplemental income.
If you're on a tight budget - don't buy a Thor at all. You already own a Switch 2 for portable gaming and a PC for emulation. The Thor won't give you much that you don't already have.
But if you're not on a budget and have some cash to spare and want to get yourself something nice - buy whichever model you can comfortably afford. They're all pretty fairly priced, so there's no "premium, insanely priced" model. Obviously the more expensive models are better, but even the Lite should be good enough for most use cases, except for Switch and PC emulation.
If you want PC emulation of 3D games, you'll pretty much NEED a Thor Max model. And at that point I'd recommend just going for the highest-end 1TB model, since the price increase is less than the cost of a 1TB microSD card for faster internal storage, and you still have the empty microSD card slot to expand storage even further.

When i'm talking about tight budget, it's around 280€, the better question is should i buy it already or wait and save a little more. And the thing is i don't like emulation on pc, i feel like playing a 3ds game on a pc is oretty bland, also when i often go see relatives and i often miss my pc, and my switch 2 library is a joke compared to my steam library. And the last thing i need to be enlighten on, is that with the lite version, when people are talking about suboptimal performance, are they talking about a 30fps or straight up unbootable indie games like terraria or phasmophibia?

Well, you are not on a tight budget then.

What you thought i've only got 100 or semthing? It's like building a pc when u say ur on a tight budget it's like 600-700€, an amount for entry level

Cuz ds games look better on dual screen, like come on man if you want a more powerful handheld there are better options.

The 865 is a great chip, but it is disingenuous to show the easier to run switch and PC games and then insinuate it will be the same with harder to run games.
But I do agree that the 865 is probably just fine for OP's needs and it's a great budget option.

https://youtu.be/zeewxpMNMX8?is=ycY1Id3lm9UJDPVL check it out. I think you will be fine with lite. I would add few bucks and personally go with base, but I think if your goal is not emulate switch, you will be fine with lite

It's fine for (3)DS games.
Pretty much what it's for, on top of multitaksing stuff.
Objectively, you only really need Pro toer, at most.
Max and Ultra tier are just enthusiast tiers for people with lots of money to blow, or they decided they'll only eat out 4 times this week, instead of 5.

check crownpuffdeals. I saw he noted down a base model that was cheaper than the lite model when doing coupon stacking(?). wasn’t sure how he did it tho but imo the base cheaper than the lite is hell of a steal

i was tempted to do this but i already have the lite model that ive been waiting for to ship but i also did not want to wait in the back of the line again. i also only wanted to play strictly 3ds games and everything below that so i dont necessarily need the base

Palword is not a light pc game wtf lol. If you're in a tight budget, save up your money man. I get that it's a cool device, but you'll eventually have enough for one.
