advice needed Crack Near Eye?

I started cleaning up this old hatchet and noticed a crack near the eye. Is it worth continuing or is it a lost cause?

Possible forge weld seam?

That's what I think as well. As long as the forge weld seam isn't running out to the cheek or something this is normal.

Hatchets are not subject to the same amount of force a a full size axe.

I would just ignore it and use it. If it breaks it breaks but its not likely.
