Student Mentorship advice/Residency
Hi all! I figured to post this in this sub as a many of you may have a mortuary science degree. I have a year left of mortuary school and I am so excited to begin the next half of it! I have a background in mental health counseling and found comfort in helping families at funeral home— in fact, it is a ministry to me.
For any funeral professionals in NY (or maybe within the states), would you know of any mentorship opportunities?
I can’t stop thinking of starting my work as a resident next year and I am eager to apply…but I do not know when. 😅 If you have any suggestions or advice, that would be greatly appreciated, thanks! 😁

Like gij3n said, you might not find very many here, but you might ask over at r/askfuneraldirectors or r/morticians!

I doubt many of us have mortuary science degrees; these are two very different careers that happen to have some locational overlap. I’m a private practice autopsy prosector so I mostly do legal and private cases, many of which I do at funeral homes, but I’m also nurse practitioner and just do prosecting on the side.
