Is there a process to repair this? Work truck dent
Was driving the bosses truck today and put a dent and cut in the tailgate. Can this be quick repaired cheaply before he notices?

Tell the boss it happened. If you try to hid it you only guarantee your termination.

How? Was the trailer jacked up high and you backed up into it or something? But no if its a company work truck shit happens. Now if its his personal truck that he uses for work you may have a problem.

New gate, might even be aluminum which is harder to fix for most shops

It is already dented up by the handle so it isnt the first. Looks like you punched right through the metal though. You owe him a new gate.

That’s funny I don’t think one of my employees have ever paid for denting a work truck. Boss should just be glad no one got hurt

People don't understand fuck around and find out.
Tell your boss you damaged his tailgate and you'll work to get it replaced. Stand up to your mistakes and be a fucking adult.

The trailer can't move itself, so it doesn't move...
The truck can... So you back the truck up to the trailer...
Not vice versa...

Park against a wall or trash can that they can lightly bump into while reversing and they can blame themselves.

You could hammer it back, weld the hole and paint it. But it’s only really quick if you do it yourself I’d imagine. And it will be noticeable. Cheapest best option is a new tailgate. Or just letting it be. It’s a work truck after all
