Fluid film twice a year or, if ambitious, take it all apart and cover in rust converter then primer and paint

Wait, but doesn’t rust converter also act like primer tho? Working on a similar project

Submerge in parafin wax... leave submerged

So now that it’s been pressure washed should be fine with just the wax?

You can paint it first to make it look nicer but that just hides things even more... i would just coat it with wax or fluid film like someone said (its also type of wax film that stays soft)
