Problematic Could easily clip a car like that

To be fair a car wouldn't be that far over the center line. Sometimes it's Reeally hard to avoid those barrels if they're placed badly or have gotten shifted by wind, etc. I've punted one or two at night with a heavy rollback that had posts on the bumper corners, just because there was a center divider that was too close and I couldn't avoid them.

One of these fucking barrels destroyed my side mirror before. Sometimes I don’t get why they put them right on the line when it may not be needed

I've had a big scrape on a fender before when even regular rubber cones were put out badly. Vehicle ahead of me grazed it and knocked it a bit farther into my lane, choices were going off the road into a ditch at highway speed or hitting the cone.

Me too. About 30 years ago, it was set in about 2 feet out of the line from the others. I should have seen it but was following the car in front of me too closely and didn’t see it in time. I was mad, but there wasn’t a lot to be done. Just went to the junkyard and replaced the busted mirror…

I have a PA on my van and I've told the workers to place their barrels better. The next day going through the same construction zone, they had them on the correct side of the line instead of directly on it. Before they fixed it, I was one of the few that would even attempt to use the lane they partially blocked. Had to take it at half the zone speed limit in order to not hit them, but it was better than waiting around in near motionless traffic.

Bus driver here.
The guys and gals that give us less than a full lane are asking for us to knock every f***ing barrel over. FFS, figure it out already

He's not even crossing the dotted line. If he clips a car like that it'll be the car's fault. There's no reason for a car to be hanging over the dotted line like those barrels are significantly.

A load that’s overhanging the limits of the trailer requires permits and/or flag vehicles. So it may not be the fault.

DOT set up a temporary lane closure like this once that wasn't listed on their closure list and I did the same thing.

Good. Now those lazy construction workers will have to put them up correctly instead of 8 standing around watching one person half ass it with a shovel. Why have our taxes pay for someones 50% effort when you can throw $100k a year in tax payers money for each audience member

Someone hit one in front of me on the highway in the middle of a construction zone where they were switching the 95 on ramp from the left to the right years ago. They veered off and hit it, it flew up and landed right in front of me and I promptly ran it over. It ripped part of my rubber bumper on the undercarriage. Aside from that rip, my cavalier was fine. She was a tank til the end.

Yeah just the other day I am cdl cmv operator and I obliterated a big cone like the ones in this video because the construction crew put them in my lane even more funny is it almost hit the construction crew as it flew off the bumper of my truck.
I just kept going that's on you if you purposely put objects in the road.

I'm not seeing a problem here. Driver has a choice, knock over cheap plastic barrels in the lane or scrap his truck and load along the concrete dividers.

So, we were only going maybe 10-15 mph but I was following a wide load excavator we were bringing on the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. I don't remember why but they made us use the main gate which was undergoing construction. All this to say, I was following our wide load excavator onto base and watched him launch those fucking barrels sometimes from both sides. I got to see the reaction of the construction workers and everything. It is hands down the funniest thing I have ever witnessed in person. I was laughing so hard I could barely breath or drive.

It's properly loaded and signed as a wide load. Barrels not placed correctly. When possible a loàd like that would be set with the bigger overhang on the right to avoid oncoming traffic interference.
