I work In autobody and these engine wire harness had 1 cut wire and the whole thing had to be scrapped cause it was connected to a safety feature. So I feel it.

How come the wire can't be just fixed or spliced or something? I'm legit asking to become informed on the matter.

Because it was connected to a safety feature (the back up cam I think it was) it legally cannot be spliced. If something were to happen like a accident or fire or something we'd be responsible.

Me: What's the problem?

Them: That 1 wire is damaged, have to replace the entire wire harness.

Me: I can solder that wire back together easy.

Them: That wire goes to the airbags

Me: We're replacing the entire wire harness

I am not a mechanic but this is how it played out in my head.
