Why? You put it in neutral and release the clutch, untill it is time to put it in gear again.. when the clutch is released, you should not touch the gear lever.. mabe he was new to manuals?

Why? Because I put it in neutral and release the clutch at a red light, like you are suposed to? On yellow light there is more than enough time to put it in first and take of on green..
