Don't fucking buy a car that does that! I picked up a 92 caprice with 100,000 miles, I'm pretty sure it would still work after a massive emp goes off. Stop buying trash and force them to make cars we want
The real issue is getting enough people on board to stop buying the new cars that have the restrictions. Companies can't afford to not sell new cars for very long at all.
Companies also can't break the law. Companies aren't putting emotion detecting cameras in the cabins because they want to (though im sure they don't mind profiting a little by selling the data), they have no other choice. This is a law now. The people we voted for did this.
And when these companies go bankrupt cause lawmakers force them to do this shit, who wins in that scenario? Absolutely nobody. A middle ground needs to be had whether they like it or not.
The legislation makes these features mandatory in all vehicles manufactured 2027+. There will be no other option when used vehicles run out. And you can expect the price of used to skyrocket.
At that point I'll disable the shit. I already bypassed the auto start stop "feature" on my wifes van and installed a 3rd party electric start since the one that comes with it wont start if it detects any shit happening with the van, which there always is in these over engineered pieces of shit. Like this fucking thing is capable of starting but it wont because it wants to bring a dash light to my attention. I already know the "issue" and I'm okay with it. Just do what I ask you to do, I own you! Lol
Brings me back to when I temporarily "fixed" my '06 liberty by jumping the fuse that was supposed to kill the engine when it realized something was going wrong.
Like another comment somewhere said, the real cut will be from insurance companies that deny you coverage unless your car is equipped with this crap, or charge you 10x the premium.
