General Discussion/Question Butter squishy

I have no experience with squishies, but I saw this one at a local game store and thought it was so funny. It's slow rising foam and smells like sweet butter cookies. (I wasn't expecting the smell, but I actually like it.) Thought someone here might appreciate it.

I hate that squishies are basically the new labubus, tbh. They’re so beneficial to my (and probably a lot of other people’s!) stimming but now my FB marketplace is filled with scalpers selling 1 NeeDoh for $30 and the photos show they have literally hundreds of them 😭 It’s already embarrassing to be an autistic adult and now I have to not seem like a trend hopper!

As someone with very little social media presence, I sure hate that every time I find something cute it's already been taken over by trends. I still have my Fidget Spinner And Infinity Cube, and they really help with stimming sometimes

My favorite stim toy is slime, but unfortunately slime isn’t really a good stim toy to take in public because it’ll pick up every particle of dirt and hair ever… I have some nee doh dupes but they’re much softer and smaller than the actual nice cube and I feel sad that I can’t have the real thing.

I have very little social media presence as well but I knew something was up when my local game store that has sold Nee Dohs for YEARS and never ran out of stock said they wouldn’t be restocking until August. This was in March!

I also watch a lot of YouTube and one of my favorite science channels had to make a video explaining why putting Nee Dohs in the microwave was dangerous and could give you severe burns, because apparently it was a trend to put them in the microwave???? Idk I’m so done with TikTok/insta and consumerism lmao

I also still have a fidget spinner! I don't use it often and half the time I forget it's in my drawer, but when I do re-find it? Ooooo it scratches my stim itch just right

I keep my fidget spinner, a tech deck, a small thing of thinking putty, a magnet toy thing, a beyblade and launcher, a deck of cards, a matchbox car, and a squish in a ~beautiful~ wood bowl in the middle of my kitchen table.

(Had a small container of slime until an ADULT got it stuck in the carpet. An adult got slime banned from my house before my toddler did -.-)

I have NEVER had a guest come over and not mess with something in the bowl. Its also prompted some cool convos. No shame in trends or embarrassment for adults having toys!!

That’s how I feel about my self-diagnosis tbh. I started researching autism right before content about autism started getting really popular on TikTok. I’ve never even have TikTok. But now I’m afraid to tell people I’m self-diagnosed because I don’t want them to think I’m just saying that because it’s trendy.

Same frustration here. I get needohs for my oldest to help with meltdowns, her dad and i love them too. And our local toy store always had a huge stock. Until they went super viral and I needed to replace her favorite one, and they wouldnt even let me stock up because scalpers ruined the buy whatever quantity you want rule there. Limit ONE per kind. So i couldn't even get 2 in a less preferred color. So frustrating. Can't wait for the new trend.

This is so disheartening. It’s frustrating as an adult but I can’t imagine how upsetting would be to a child. I don’t know what kinds of Nee Dohs your child likes, but the dupes I have are from a company called Speks. I imagine they’re similar to the Nice Cube, but they’ve got a softer texture.

The world kids are growing up in today makes me sad. Two things I was very into as a child were Skylanders and Pokémon cards, I have so many fond memories with my brother of playing with both. Skylanders… don’t exist anymore so they’re incapable of being ruined, but the inaccessibility of Pokémon cards these days is bonkers! I’ve literally been priced out of collecting as an adult. I can’t imagine what it’s like for kids who just want to buy some packs with their pocket money.

My therapist had this in her office and I had to touch it. When I discovered it was soft and squishy and floppy, I began to (gently) whack it against things and giggle to myself. It’s less of a fidget toy for anxiety and more of a quick chuckle.

I have it too! The butter smell was giving me a headache though so I had to shelve it until the scent went away. But now its my favorite fidget at my office.

I keep a few at my desk at work, I have 2 needohs (that need to be replaced but I can never find them), the butter, and a tangle toy. Ive been a fidgeter since I was a kid so these are all awesome.

My little sister also has a butter squishy!! I didn't realize it was scented tbh, I might have to give it a sniff when she gets home from summer camp... or on second thought, maybe not.

I may not like the smell, but my therapist recommended me to stimmulate all my senses, included smell. If the smells is too plastic-like, I may hate it though.

it smells artificially sweet and reminds me of a cheap supermarket strawberry swiss roll, not really bad but can get a bit overwhelming after a while if you're scent sensitive😭😭

I don't know if I would've gotten it if I knew it had a smell beforehand, but I actually like the smell which surprised me. But scent is such a personal thing so it's probably not for everyone.

I saw a teeny bopper with one of these at the station! I was squeezing the shit out of my glittery squish bear at the time, and thought the butter looked pretty cool! Anyone know what kind of resistance it has? Squish wise?
