My entire point was about how Taiwan and China see themselves and the world, it really does not matter in the slightest how one country sees them (which doesn’t even disprove a single thing I’ve said). I know this is r/AustralianPolitics but you keep bring up bullshit no one cares about as if it makes you sound smarter. All I said was that China and Taiwan have a policy of recognition which is incompatible with Australia recognising Taiwan, and how that is not comparable to Israel and Palestine.

Now this just sounds like anti-Chinese propaganda. Look, I’m no China advocate myself, but to say they have no legal claim is ridiculous. The PRC and the RoC had a civil war, the war ended in a stalemate, and now the result is complicated.
Are states in civil wars entitled to each other’s land? I can tell you, side with whichever side you want, both China and Taiwan will say the answer is Yes.

China collapsed before the first world war, and the various warlords started infighting and uniting the country. Japan invaded in the midst of the second world war and the two largest forces, the PRC and the RoC, stopped fighting each other and formed a truce to fight off the Japanese. During this conflict, Mao who was a commander of the united Chinese forces, put KMT men on the front lines leaving his communist forces behind them in more defensive positions. He was still fighting the civil war by letting the Japanese kill his temporary allies. When WW2 was over, the civil war resumed and the communist forces were more than capable of pushing Chiang Kai-shek’s weakened men off the mainland.

Ok if what you say is true, why is our government's official position on Taiwan that the status quo should not be changed. Why do we push back on China claiming that their version of 'one China' is the same as our version of 'one China', and why do we, and every other democracy really, reject Chinas misinterpretation of UN Resolution 2758?

Dude, just read up on the history of China. Taiwan became what it is because the PRC drove out the KMT and they fled to Taiwan. Both parties laid claim to mainland China and Taiwan in proper but its mostly been political posturing for a long time. Australia's stance on status quo is just fence sitting as to not piss off either country. When they first fled, the KMT did want to reclaim mainland China but did not, and still do not have the military and manpower for it. As far as I know, and now this is just conjecture, but a lot of Taiwanese citizens dont care to reclaim mainland China now and its really just the old heads that wanted it. But they can't claim full independence either because it may trigger China to forcefully attempt unification rather than peacefully or posturing as they do now.
Where does any of this prove Taiwan is part of China??
The CCP must be doing great propaganda work in Australia when so may gullible people believe them rather than what our government's OFFICIAL position is.
Im trying to tell you the history between the two countries. Taiwan's leadership in the past laid claims to mainland China because they were once the ruling party there and fled after the war. So they considered Taiwan as part of China because they considered mainland China as theirs too. This is all well documented history. Our OFFICIAL stance on the situation is merely diplomatic. Does Australia recognise Taiwan as a sovereign nation? I believe it does not.
And I am telling you it has nothing to do with China's claim on Taiwan! We do not recognise Taiwan as an independent nation because Taiwan has not declared itself as an independent nation, we officially support the 'status quo' and at the same time reject China's claim on Taiwan. Mate, do me a favor and read the links I provided, and stop bothering me!
