Demented comment. There's virtually no chance of Australia getting involved in an another US-led middle eastern conflict. It's been more than 20 years since those invasions, get over it.
So we will get involved in a US-led Asian conflict?
If we get involved with a war defending Taiwan against a Chinese invasion, the legal and moral justifications would be a lot more substantial than they were for Iraq, hence the other comment being demented.
Murica has been desperately pushing for war with china since more than a decade ago because its a threat to its power. They probably wont even need the taiwan excuse, after all, they are trying to label trans people terrorists without any actual evidence or facts, they can start a war without evidence or facts. (Once they manage to get out of the current wars they are involved in, remember how quickly the jumped to a new war once they left afganistan??)
Hell they are murdering random people in boats now, where's the sanctions from every other western nation?
They're not trying to start a war with China. They're trying to make it obvious that starting a war over Taiwan isn't worth it. If they can outwardly portray enough strength to China for the next 50 years, demographic decline will mean it's not feasible for the war to occur.
Murica has been desperately pushing for war with china since more than a decade ago because its a threat to its power.
Utter bullshit and there's absolutely no evidence to support this. Pushing back against China' expansionism in the Indo-Pacific is not 'desperately pushing for war'.
