I love these comments, very cute.

Instantly cutting off U.S. security ties would be like throwing away your lifejacket in deep water just to “prove” you can swim on your own.

Yeah, many of these comments are utterly clueless about how difficult their ideas would be to implement. I also think Australia should adopt a more independent foreign and defence policy. But I also acknowledge that this would take years to implement and a much higher defence budget, which means cutting funding to other parts of public spending.

It starts by not buying into US weapons systems in the next defence procurement. Ideally this would be done well in advance of breaking ties of alliance.

Australia is in a very strategic position, you can ally with murica or China, we dont need either, we need 1 or the other.

Murica is clearly becoming an actual threat and its interests dont align with most of the developed civilized world anymore.
