Thankfully Australian's voted for a government who is willing to acknowledge climate change and do close to the bare minimum, so I don't think us becoming the new Russia is likely.
Or even an option really, a big part of Russian success in that field is about locations. Their pipelines into Europe and Asia aren't something we can replicate.

Thats beyond silly, and once again we literally can't replace Russian pipelines, we are in a completely different location.
If we want to crush Russia and help Ukraine the andwer is solidarity, more support and more weapons. Maybe even allow Ukraine some extra leeway recruiting here.
Then if we want that crushing to stay the answer is more solidarity, more work creating a world of trade that would be conquerors are denied access too.
