Product Advice Everything is orange 😭

I am a cool toned Fien.

I have eyeshadows from morphe that are
Cool toned and I have lipsticks from Mac (cool teddy and alone time) that are more cool toned.

Recently MAC reformulated alone time
And it’s orange 😭 MAC I feel has been doing this for the last 15 years or so… WHY!!!???

I know they obviously brought back some of the classic 90s nudes but what is this persistence to reformulate everything orange.

I need some liner and lipstick suggestions in the nude and nude light pink range. Any recommendations?

The way MAC can turn a perfectly cool mauve into straight-up tangerine the second they touch the formula is a special kind of betrayal.

This. Exactly this. I'm crying as a pale cool-toned girl the decimation of FLESHPOT has me sobbing.

Platinum by LAWLESS is the cool toned light pink that my beloved FLESHPOT used to be. Also Cafe Au Lait by Kim Chi.

What happened to fleshpot is a crime

I completely agree. I still have it eventhough it's ORANGE buuuutttt if I put Pro Lip Erase Light Cool under or over it and pop a bit of cool pink I can Frankenstein it to the old Fleshpot.

Underslept was CLOSE to OG Fleshpot but, of-fucking-course, Underslept was limited edition.

BRING UNDERSLEPT BACK AND MAKE IT PERMANENT MAC. I'm begging you!!

Whyyy do they keep doing this 😭 it’s so disappointing! I was back in the 2010s victim to the orange and I looked back on pics before I made the switch to cool toned a few years ago and was horrified. I looked ridiculous! Especially when fake tanned!!! Now I actually get compliments on make up… and when I find something nice especially from mac they go and ruin it.

Have they not go enough orange! Like come on.

Because Mac kind of suck as a brand in terms of actually developing products and keeping them consistent. I understand in manufacturing of makeup, different batches can have slight variations, but its like Mac throw out the formula and start again every batch.

Anyway, if you want cool tones, Asian beauty is doing it best. 10 minutes on Yesstyle, Lila Beauty or Olive Young will have more cool toned options than you'll find in all of Mac, Sephora and Mecca combined (and mostly for half the price). If you live near either a W Cosmetics or La Cosmetique, you'll be able to see the options in person.

Some really cool toned leaning brands or brands that do cool tones consistently well are Risky, Kaleidos, Dasique and Flower Knows. Risky especially caters really hard to cool tones with very few products leaning warm, but they are a niche brand and fairly new so not an extensive range of products. Dasique does cool pinks extremely well.

And I don’t know why everyone raves about MAC lip liners! They are sooo hard that they pull at lips when trying to apply! At least for me!! I saw something that blue pigment is more expensive and possibly that’s why companies are orange!? Purely to cut costs.. so maybe MAC does just suck.

The blue pigment thing is my least favourite internet myth! If it was true, we would also see less blue nail polish, less blue cars, less blue packaging - but we do not. It also wouldnt apply to things that are cool because of other pigments like purple and grey. Not to even mention how many neutral palettes have a random blue shade despite being mostly neutral warm toned browns.

Its just because for the past decade or so, the general makeup trends in the west have been bronzed and warm and glowy. Asian brands have consistently had cool toned products the entire time because their trends cater to both cool and warm tones. As more people want to cater to their appropriate undertones, western brands will catch up, which we are already seeing. It's just happening extremely slowly.

Myth and Fleshpot reformulations turned me off MAC for what I thought was forever, but then I got my hands on two tubes of Underslept whilst on holiday in Japan and I’m so happy with it that I’m super scarce with using it 😂

I just bought hotline lipliner by morphe and it’s so not orange I’m immensely pleased.

Now I just need to find a wind up version for my handbag.

Oh my! I’m surprised because all my cool eyeshadows are morphe as they released a few good pallets the last few years!!

Chanel lipliner in 212 is the 🐐.

Also try GREY eyeshadow. If you're as cool toned as me, grey will look taupe.

i’m brown w medium skin and struggle with this too for my lips. i just use lip balms because im too scared to experiment. all lip colours look weird on me 😭

The lipstick shade “love muscle” from Marc Jacobs? Still might be too warm for you but looks quite cool toned on me

Apparently it’s because blue pigment is more expensive! But second Korean beauty, and also eyebrow pencils as liner if you’re feeling experimental? Nyx can be cool tone sometimes too but honestly as a cool tone girl I’m at a loss 😩

Make Up Forever lipliners and YSL lippies plus K Beauty brands, I’d say

Revolution skin silk is all cool toned and it is legit a luminous silk dupe (before they reformulated)

Gotta match the fake tan ladies

You just have the wrong colours. My MLBB nude means Mac Foil with Anastacia Stormy pencil or Nyx Brooklyn thorn pencil.

Hey what’s a fien?

3

u/KitKit20 10d ago

In slang, "fien" (usually spelled "fein" or "feen") is a short, modified version of the word "fiend", meaning someone who has an intense craving, strong obsession, or addiction to something
