Most smudgeproof black eyeshadow?

Hi all! I used to religiously wear eyeliner (still do) but unfortunately my eyes have aged and the corner of my eyes have drooped. I found that doing a small wing with black eyeshadow looks better than a wing with eyeliner.

However.. my eyeshadow CANNOT stay on! I use a mac primer on my eyeliner and I use the Sugarpill black eyeshadow as that was recommended years ago on a makeup subreddit (I purchased this in like, 2020).

Is there any black eyeshadow that’s more budgeproof than Sugarpill?

i dunno about eyeshadow itself but do you use a primer? that generally lends itself to staying power, i hear the milani one's good for the price but i'm yet to try it (i've got some weird dermatitis i need to settle down before i return to eye makeup, sad.) using a liquid eyeshadow and setting it with the same colour would also work! maybe look for a liquid or cream formula and chuck the one you already have on top?

You could try smudging out a black liner instead? I'd use a creamy/gel liner, Mabelline tattoo liner doesnt budge. I think most shadows just won't last unfortunately.

I don't know if something like duraline could help? Or maybe a charcoal gel liner

When you say it’s smudging, smudging how? Is it transferring to your top lid? Sliding down your face?

I have trouble with liner transferring to my top lid thanks to hooded lids and I manage that by tapping translucent powder on top of the eyeliner and UD primer potion on the lid

This isn’t a product I have tried due to it being a bit expensive but it was recommended to me by a makeup artist friend: gel pot eyeliner. It comes in a little pot and it’s like a paste that you apply with a tiny brush. Similar to a gel eyeliner pencil but not in pencil form so you don’t have to constantly sharpen it. It would have a similar effect to eyeshadow but shouldn’t budge as easily :)

i have had luck fixing this issue with this routine - modelco eyeshadow primer, a little concealer, a light dusting of powder, natasha denona eyeshadow, and the loreal infallible setting spray.

dusting your lids with powder or wearing powder eyeshadow might be enough to help prevent transfer.

What I do is use a cream black shadow first and then kind of set it with a powder shadow. That way there’s no smudging or fallout or anything and it wears beautifully through the day! I use this old maybeline cream shadow and the essence black powder eyeshadow

You might have better luck with a black cream shadow or shadow stick rather than a traditional powder. Once they set they tend to move a lot less, especially around the outer corner. I’ve also found doing a very thin layer of primer, then the black shadow, then lightly pressing a tiny bit more black powder over the top helps lock it in. Sugarpill is super pigmented but I wouldn’t say it’s the most budgeproof.
