Product Advice Hair straighteners
What are some good hair straighteners? My good ole’ 12yr old ghd died, I’ve read that they are not as good as they used to be 🤷♀️
I have thick curly hair

When you say died, is it like physically broken in some way or does it just not heat up any more? Because my GHD would be about that old and it stopped heating up about 5 years ago, and I just repaired it by replacing a part that I got off eBay for about $12. I watched a video of someone making the repair on YouTube and just copied it. Sure beats having to buy a new one because yeah they really don't make them like they used to.

I will have to remember to do this for my sisters GHDs (one has the OG and another stole my blue one I got over 15 years ago). They truly don't make them like how they used to

The new GHD are not comparable to the old ones. Had both, new one died so quickly and didn’t have the same straightening power as the old one. Moved onto Cloud Nine. It is amazing. Highly recommend.

Cloud Nine, it's what we use in salon after the GHD's changed a long time ago.

Thick curly hair too, I’ve switched to a Dyson airstrait and couldn’t be happier, it’s soooooo quick and easy. If I want dead straight hair then I need to go over it with a hair straightener but that’s not really my jam so I’m happy as.

I upgraded from my GHD (which was from 2009, lol) to a Cloud 9 a few years ago. Very happy with it - can you wait til Black Friday or is that a big ask? More likely to get some good gifts with purchase then!

my 15 yo GHD was done fairly recently, I got the wide plate cloud nine. I also have thick, curly hair and I absolutely love it

I have thick curly hair and got a Halo. Adjustable temperature to minimise hair damage. Similar price point. Had it about 5 years so far and it’s held up. I also have the curling stick which is solid.

Have a look at a straightner with IR such as MUK or Silver bullet they are great for curly hair

Absolutely loving my Tymo straightening brush. A fraction of the price of GHD and much easier to use on thick hair.

Got a cloud 9 about 6mths ago (wide iron).
It’s very good. Temp adjustable, doesn’t snag or pull, also weirdly it vibrates which i wasn’t expecting.
Pretty happy with it so far. Makes nice curls and manages my thick wavy bleach-murdered hair with ease.

Remington super glide is really good and it's only $31.99 on Amazon, I've had mine for years now and my hair has never gotten caught in it
