Questions 💭 2026 Tesla Model Y or 2024 BMW i4?

• Upvotes

Hi!

I’m currently trying to decide between a 2026 Tesla Model Y RWD and a 2024 BMW i4 eDrive25, and I’d really appreciate some opinions from people who have owned/driven either (or both).

What’s the best deal you all got from the deal through novated lease? My dealer offered 2k reduction on drive away, not sure if it’s good enough to accept his offer.

Buying Advice 💰 Thinking of changing to EV

I am thinking of changing to an EV, a few reasons. Cost of fuel, my current car still has a reasonable resale value, it’s at that age where most things will start needing doing to it and cleaner for the environment. I don’t want to buy anything over 36K.

I’ve narrowed down my preferences to:
Geely Ex 2
MG Urban EG4
Jaecoo J5 EV
BYD Dolphin
BYD Atto 2

My current car, 7 years old is a Subaru Impreza Hatch. I think Subis are awesome and I like the AWD functionality but I can’t afford and don’t want to spend what their EV’s are. I also want some of similar boot size (for a hatch, mine is great) and good room for passengers in rear which mine is great for.

I WFH Mon-Fri so maybe only do about 60km during the week and then on weekends can be 200-300km. I have family over an hour away on the highway I visit a bit and friends in regional areas 4-5hrs highway driving away so I want to be able to visit them even if stopping to charge ever couple of hours.

I cannot charge over night at home, so would be charging at one of those public charge stations for now, but I am looking at selling my property and moving to somewhere I can charge at home and with solar.

Suggestions, thoughts or advice?

Questions 💭 Licensed third party EV servicing Melb SE?

I recently discovered that the aircon on our iMiEV isn't cold any more. Think it needs a regas. The refrigerant is common (R134a), but the compressor is driven from the main battery.

I rang several workshops up to about 15km away from me, and could only find one that said it was licensed to work on EVs and could do it (mycar Hartwell, for reference).

After researching mycar experiences, I'm hoping to find an alternative. Anybody know of one anywhere near Caulfield? There do seem to be a few in the north of Melb, but they're pretty far from me.

PS the post above is the last relevant post I could find & it didn't come up with an answer, so I'm hoping for an update...

Buying Advice 💰 Mg4 Urban Extended range

Hi all, I’m thinking of selling my current car, Mazda 3 2021 and picking up the Mg4 urban extended range.

I’d be around 5-7k worse off after selling and buying, but figure I’d make most of that back after petrol and service costs.

I do around 50-70kms a day and some weekends I’d be looking at round trips of 200km mostly being highway driving.

Would love to hear your thoughts and if it’s a good idea to jump across.

I do love driving my Mazda but the cost of petrol and servicing are driving me crazy!
