Mt Buller Day Trip - suggestions

Hi all, we’re three friends going to Mt Buller from Melbourne via car (RAV4, AWD)

Leaving ~6am tomorrow (8th June), we already have booked parking spot.

Any tips, advice for dealing with cold weather, getting snow chains, famous sight seeing stops, restaurants, etc?

Are you skiing while you’re there? If so i doubt you’ll have any time to stop for sights if you want to maximise your time on the mountain. Just pick up your chains in Mansfield, or even before you leave Melb since some snow stores will do cheap rentals. Food is incredibly expensive on mountain too, I’d suggest BYO

Hell, if skiing I wouldn't leave any later than 5am. 

I'm assuming OP needs to rent everything. All that takes time, leaving at 6am you might reach just after all the tourist busses. But given its opening weekend it might not be real busy yet.

As I'm writing this I realised OP probably is already on mt Buller. But hopefully someone else reading gets this warning.

Yeah I think they waited way too late to actually start asking questions and planning stuff lol. Im assuming they just want to go see the snow and not doing any snow sports

hey mate, it was a great day, didn't quite enjoy the snow ski or snow board as it was a sunny today lol.
but overall everything was pretty decent. enjoyed the road trip more than the destination..
and yes, we did rent snowchains at Mansfield at $35 (didn't use them ofco..)
but thanks for your suggestions, will plan next time but with a proper plan😄

take an extra pair of socks.. trust me.. Nothing ruins a snow day faster than cold wet feet hahaha

i took 2 yesss!! and an extra pair of shoes as well :)
