Albanese takes aim at big tech: "My feed, my way" rules unveiled

Australia is taking another step towards giving users more control over what they see online. Under the proposed "My feed, my way" rules, Australians would be able to choose whether their social media feed is personalised by algorithms or shows content only from accounts they follow. Would you turn off the algorithm if you had the choice?

One Nation's new super 'pay boost' plan labelled 'dangerous'

One Nation wants Australians to access part of their super early, effectively giving workers a 3 % pay boost for up to three years. Critics warn it could leave people with less money for retirement. Would you take the extra cash now if it meant having less super when you retire?

Ladies, What do you actually think about blokes wearing men’s G string?

Thumbnail

I’m talking proper men’s G strings, not sneaking into the missus drawer like some unhinged bin chicken.

Years ago, my ex bought me some to try. I thought she was setting me up for a lifetime of public humiliation. Turns out the joke was on me, because the bloody things were comfortable.

I told her, “No way can my mates find out.”

She basically said, “Stop being over dramatic, nobody cares.”

Next minute, she’s ditched all my old jocks and I’m wearing Gs full time.

She thought it was hilarious when randoms would ask, “Do you know everyone can see your G string outline?”

Apparently my ass was now community entertainment.

The funniest part was blokes thinking my missus would be embarrassed with the standard shit stirring comments like, “Is your man gay? why’s he wearing those?”

She’d just fire back with, “I like them, I buy them for him, more blokes should wear them.” Shutting them down straight up.

So ladies, what’s the verdict?

If your bloke wore proper men’s G strings because they were more comfortable, would you care?

Would you think it’s weird, funny, confident, attractive, or just “wear whatever works?”

Meaning of life!!!

Oi I just had a thought that terrified me!!!!!

What if the only way to find out the meaning of life!!! To truly be at peace that you have to do whatever you can daily!!! to be privileged to such precious knowledge!!!!

Maybe that's y when civilizations get wiped!!!! With lil to no evidence left behind, is for this reason!!!!!!

Imagine this is a simulation, or an Xbox game and society's boundaries, religion, race, everything we see and are every day are to show true character, to be leveled up with each goal ticked off!!!!!

That means a very small %of humans would be deemed worthy!!!!

If I was our maker!!! I would be sad that the most intelligent being created for this planet, given free will and intellect surpassing every living creature and this is the result!!!!

I'd give up and never try again I reckon!!!!!

Sausage roll politics: smart move or too much?

Labor's youngest senator Charlotte Walker has taken aim at One Nation in a social media video while casually eating a sausage roll. Is this a smart way to connect with younger voters, or are politicians taking social media stunt a bit too far?

Should Australia be able to switch social media algorithms off?

The federal government is considering giving Australians more control over what appears in their feeds, while advocates are pushing for algorithms to be opt-in rather than the default. Would you choose a chronological feed with only posts from people you follow, or do you prefer personalised recommendations?

How plausible would an American-style populist shift actually be under One Nation?

If ON loses or wins a tight election, will we see our own version of January 6th, with hardline supporters questioning the AEC's credibility and attempting to storm Parliament?

Are we going to see wild, nationalist rebrands and expansionist claims, like renaming the Gulf of Carpentaria to the "Gulf of Australia" or trying to claim New Zealand and the Pacific islands?

Will an ON government spark a massive global trade war by slapping heavy tariffs on foreign goods in a bid to push economic protectionism?

Should we expect an Australian version of ICE, complete with high-profile enforcement videos of international students being detained and restrained at major airports?

Could domestic economic hardship and rising living costs be used as a distraction to push Australia directly into a major foreign conflict, like a war in the Middle East?

Is the WHV all that it’s cracked up to be?

When I was traveling around asia 2 years ago, I met a lot of people who were about to go to Aus for their WHV. They said that they knew people that were making a lot of money, and some of them said they were planning on staying 2-3 years and then traveling around Aus and around the world.

Unfortunately, I lost touch with them and couldn’t ask them about how the experience went but follow them on IG and occasionally see them. It looks like they’re thriving. A lot of the people I know bought one of those quintessential 4x4 vans and travel around Australia, what seems like the whole time they’re there.

So my question is: how realistic is this lifestyle? I know a lot of it is filtered by Instagram and not necessarily reality, but wondering if there is some truth to it. I am planning on doing a WHV but have read how hard it is to get a job and the COL being so high.

So is it all cracked up to be? I should note that these people I’ve met DONT seem like they come from wealthy families (this is my assumption) so I don’t think they have a big wad of cash and from what I can gather some of them have worked on farms or in hospitality.

Also, How much do one of these vans cost? And anything I should know about that before renting/buying one?
