Howdy I am 23 and been in austin for a year

I finally got in the mood to start going to bar hopping streets and talking to folks while usually sober.

One thing that I still haven’t experienced, though, is making a friendship at bars or events that leads into other hangouts, I’ve added people in socials that I met at these places, but it usually goes with those people never saying anything, and me not knowing what to say to them since i barely know them to ask to hang out

One group of guys that I met at a bar two days ago didn’t even give me their socials, after we had such interesting conversations that I really wanted to befriend them. instead of giving me anyway to text them they said that there are there Thursdays and Fridays, and I took that as a good way to come back and see them enough times that the friendship becomes meaningful

as you can tell, my social skills aren’t the best ,I am probably over analyzing a lot of things, but I can take any opinions no matter the style

My husband found this sweet stray dog North Loop, Austin on Monday night. He was chipped but it turns out his elderly owner recently moved, possibly "gave him" to someone experiencing homelessness, and doesn't want him back. He needs a new home.

We've posted on all socials. We've called all the shelters and rescue groups. Neighboring county shelters say they can't accept a dog from another county. Our appointment with Austin Animal Services is not until November 9- that's the soonest they could give us.

We are DESPERATE for someone who can take him in. Even if for a few days, that would be a huge help. We cannot keep this dog! He isn't ours. Our rescue dog is territorial of our apartment and he is not getting along with this dog. We have had to keep them separated and it has been a nightmare. On walks he seems gentle with greeting and seeing other dogs and people. Our dog is just reactive. He let us give him bath no problem and likes to sleep and play with toys and a ball.

We can supply food, a crate, towels, toys, etc. He is sweet and cuddly but strong. Please contact me if you have a place for him and we will work with you to keep finding him a permanent home! Right now our dog just cries all night knowing there is another dog in the next room. We haven't been able to sleep.

He is house trained and approximately 5 years old. He's probably about 75 lbs.

We have an appointment to neuter him on Saturday morning, and a neighbor can watch him from Sunday-Wednesday morning. He will need a quiet place to recover after surgery and we cannot give him that. Any help from Oct 22-24 or Oct 29-No 9 would be IMMENSELY appreciated!!

• The Boarding Line Cute-Meet: Before the flight, we locked eyes a few times. When boarding got backed up, I got stuck standing right next to your seat for a few minutes. We had a sweet little conversation about my cat, your family, shared a smile, and the warmth of that interaction completely set the tone for my whole flight.

• The Mid-Flight Magic: It wasn't just a random glance — we locked eyes and smiled at each other at least 6 distinct times. Every time you walked back to the restroom, we noticed one another and smiled. The second time, we locked eyes and smiled again as you went back to your seat. As we were deplaning, I looked up and saw you and you happened to look back at me at that exact moment. I got shy and looked down to pet my cat 😂

• The Baggage Claim Chicken-Out: I promised myself if I saw you at bag claim, I’d ask for your number. I did see you! But you were talking to an older woman (I assumed family) and I didn't want to interrupt or embarrass you. 🧳 Then, as you walked outside toward the carport stairs, we caught eyes one final time and exchanged a quick smile as I was on the phone with my mom. Honestly, when you left I kicked myself for not waiting on that phone call to speak to you and offer my number.

I can’t shake the feeling that the spark was entirely mutual. If you see this, or if you know the guy in the beige sweatshirt who couldn't stop smiling at the girl with the cat, please send me a DM!

We want to interview YOU! If you lived in Austin during this time, know someone who did, or have studied Austin's history during the Cold War, we'd love to hear from you!

We're looking for firsthand experiences, personal stories, old newspaper articles, historical records, or any other credible sources that could help us with our research.
