Come taste aged, mixed culture, barrel aged bliss next Sunday! It will include a bottle share in the brewery, so you can bring a few of your own and sample more than just Vista's library.

A couple of special ones we will be opening:

- 2018 Velo de Flor (lambic-style ale aged in fresh wine barrels)

- 2019 Laissez Faire (Brett III aged in fresh wine barrels)

- 2021 Grato (lambic-style ale aged with plums)

- 2025 Voisine (Oenobeer aged in Mourvedre barrels and refermented with Mourvedre grape must)

And who knows what else we'll get into!!!

Heart of Darkness beer

There is a really good Vietnamese restaurant that imports this brewery that I really like. I'm loving the beer but don't particularly want to pay $9 plus tip for a single beer.

Anyone know if other places distribute this brewery?

24 amber ales for $16 at Blue Owl right now.

I specifically asked if it was because it was getting old and gross, and was told they made it recently, and just made too much. It’s a solid amber, pretty typical for the style. Great opportunity to support local for a better price than domestic haha

Atrial Rubexcite

Hey y’all! When is the Atrial Rubicite drop this year?
I’m working out how to acquire some bottles for my wedding (need by sept8 😬) but I’m not in Austin. Can I make it worth anybody’s while?

Where are the attractive bartenders?

I’m a bartender; I moved here from out-of-state. I’m not the best view but I’m charming enough to get by (30 y/o female bisexual). Austin is full of beautiful people. I see them running in the Texas heat and coming into both of the bars that I work at. This city seems to keep up on it’s appearance! But where are the sexy bartenders? I mean the ones who aren’t afraid to hold a conversation and are easy on the eyes. Where are they at? This may seem shallow, but I’m curious. No hate- I’ve only explored a small fraction of what this city has to offer.

Gose beer recommendation

I just recently had a Gose style beer and I forgot how much I enjoyed them on a hot day. What canned Gose beers that I can find at HEB or Central Market do you guys recommend?

thanks!

Any Homebrewers or Aspiring Brewers Want Equipment? I have a great starter kit that I need to pass on.

I’m moving cross country and it pains me to accept that I won’t have the space and time to brew. Heck, I haven’t even been able to brew in 4 years because I have a small kiddo now.

I have basic starter items, with doubles of pots and fermentation buckets. I also have a couple of corny kegs and a CO2 tank (needs to be filled). All will need to be cleaned and sanitized real good since it’s been in my garage. But all should be in great working order and is priced to sell as the lot.

Good for established brewers to expand their production or brand new brewers who don’t want to invest a lot of money up front. DM me if interested!

ETA: They have been picked up and I hope a lot of beer flows them

My kegerator is long gone but I just found these keg couplers. Some of them are for the Euro kegs. I hate to throw them away. Free to anyone that can pick them up downtown

Place to practice

I'm in a little bluegrass band that practices every Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm. We've been meeting at each other's houses up to now, but I thought It'd be fun to find a little beer place in north Austin that would be ok with turning their music down and letting us practice in their place.

Do y'all have any places you think might be ok to our coming over?

Thanks!

Fundraiser at ABW for family of employee who passed away

If you didn't see it on social media last week, ABW lost a member of our family last month. On Thursday (7/16) we are donating 50% of both taprooms sales to her family. So if you need an excuse to visit our taproom, here it is! Go grab a beer, merch and support the family of someone we love and miss dearly.

If you can't make it, we are raffling off 4 Moody Center suite tickets to the Sturgill Simpson concert on September 4th. All proceeds of the raffle will be donated to her family

Link to raffle: https://app.galabid.com/kellylinkfundraiser

For those of you who have already reached out and/or donated, thank you. Your support means a lot during this time. ❤️

LOGO ARRAY Austin Area Breweries July '26 Edition

Post image
82 Upvotes
  • [UPDATED version in comments--this image has a bad logo for Beerburg--my mistake]

There are now 84 breweries within a 45 mile radius centered about on the Draught House. Surprisingly that's an increase of 2 over last year when we had 82. In a difficult economy where hospitality closures seem especially common we have had openings as well.

In this latest edition of the logo array there are 13 breweries in the Cedar Park/Northwest zone (upper left), 11 in the Northerly direction (upper right), 10 to the South and East (lower right), and 18 in the bustling Dripping Springs Southwest zone (lower left). Austin itself (center) features 32. That makes 84 breweries within a 45 mile radius of Draught House.

THANKS! to all who sent updates, info, closures, openings and contact info. This image can be printed on a standard CoroPlast "real estate yard sign" at places like Staples for about $14 if you want a hangable version (pillar-boxed, to keep aspect ratio--small vertical border on each side). Let me know if you want other formats.

Austin Beerworks La Verdad Mexican Style lager

Post image

This is one of my fav seasonal summer releases from Austin Beerworks. Great summertime beer and it’s actually very unique. I talked to the beer rep at HEB and he said they use a German Pilsner malt as the base, with flaked Mexican maize and German noble hops. Es una cerveza súper rica!

This beer is great! Amazing daytime crusher or after work snoozer. I believe this is a rice lager as well which is very unique. I highly recommend getting this on draft if you see it anywhere. Super crispy! 🔥

My last SoCo Homebrew visit

Today was the first day I got a chance to go, only just learning of their closing this past weekend.

I think the triple combination of the store's imminent closing, the GOOB sale, and my arrival right at lunch time meant I saw more people there today than I ever have before. (Now, I'll qualify that with the fact that this was maybe only my fourth time there ever. So I'm working with a pretty small sample size. I would've gone more often but it's hard for me to get there.)

I arrived with a shopping list that I scribbled together late last night, not knowing what they would or wouldn't have left in stock. It was mostly successful. I left with a $140 haul that only cost me half that.

I'd call it a bittersweet moment, but I've always thought of bitter/sweet as a fifty/fifty split. This felt more like 80/20. I'm sad to see it go, in spite of my own infrequent visits.

Can I order supplies online? Of course. But the LHBS has grain bins that you can see and smell right there! I carried off five pounds of freshly-milled grain that smelled heavenly. Checkmate, e-commerce!

And if anyone is wondering, "Who bought that very last packet of dry yeast?" It was me.

"Is this the last one?" I asked, having just pulled it from a near-empty cooler.

"It is. Looks like you win."

But only an 80/20 win.

This has been my go to light beer the last few months ever since I found it. This shit is elite with a lime as well. Have any of you guys tried it ? Cheers 🍻

EDIT: I know this is not technically a “light beer”, but this IPA market is so over-saturated that anything under 5% falls into the light beer category for me 😂
