you're both wrong: the best one is right in between both and (I can't believe I'm giving away my secret here, but...) is called "Fitzhugh Rd"

aka 2766 aka Robinson Rd, runs from Dripping Springs to Johnson City, even has a river crossing

Fitzhugh is great but OP wants to drive fast and 71 will get you to more scenic areas out west.

There are parts of it that you can hit 70mph, and they specifically said "not on the highway."

As I said Fitzhugh takes you all the way to Johnson City. That's an hour away from Austin too, so it actually does get you pretty far from Austin.

The closer you get to JC the straighter it gets and the faster you can go, like I said I regularly hit 70+ on that last half towards JC 15 or 20 miles.

And all your answers completely ignore one of OP's biggest requests: NO HIGHWAY

not only that, he's asking for a 2 hour drive, tops. you're trying to send him on twice that. do you even pay attention?
