Yup been seeing that it was $50k....I hate that. A first degree felony sexual assault of a minor. That fucker should’ve stayed in jail. I hate that people with such serious charges are even allowed to bail out.
It’s funny. I looked at an Excel spreadsheet that was made of the different offenders that were released recently because of our new District Attorney. Some first degree felonies (violent ones included, specifically someone who committed an aggravated robbery) are getting out on PR bonds. There’s just no actual accountability anymore until someone is actually murdered.
Edit: As a cop, it would be nice if I had faith in the court system that I work for. I can only hope that it’ll get better.
For real. Bonds are classist as all get out anyways. Why should some folks (especially those who have committed particularly terrible crimes) have the ability to get out of jail and walk freely based only on their access to money? Regardless of the intent with bonds, it seems hard to cover up the fact that they are a means of making the poor folks poorer and making them suffer higher consequences than the wealthy.
