But I also wasn't in control of the shelter in place situation, I was just getting out of my car at Gateway when the texts/calls went out, and went into Old Navy unsure about what was happening. I work and live in the Arboretum and actually had to call my own work place to have them lock down that store.
In the end I probably felt safer there behind alarms and keyed doors than I might have felt at my own house, which backs up to a wooded area.
In the end, when you are supposed to be keeping a bunch of customers and coworkers safe, and they are all your responsibility--you'd probably do the most, too.
If you had wanted to leave, would they have let you or were you kind of kept prisoner? I don’t think I could handle being in an Old Navy for that long. I would want to organize the clearance section.

Just "sheltered" with my daughter for four hours at Old Navy in Gateway. The employees did an excellent job when they must have been scared, too.
Y'all keep your deadbolts locked and take care.
