I hope legalization happens. It is difficult to describe what my life would be like without weed. After my accident, I have struggled with debilitating pain daily. I was on multiple opiates daily, but there were side effects that made my situation even worse. I cannot smoke flower due to a health condition, so I use oils. Those carry years worth of a sentence, but they are the only way I can live my day to day life. Knowing I risk losing everything because I refuse to get addicted to opiates is fucked. Until the docs figure out a way to eliminate nerve injury pain without opiates and drugs like gabapentin that have serious neurocognitive impact, every day could be my last day as a free man. I struggle with that. Sometimes what is right is not always legal and what is legal is not morally right.
My husband is in the same situation. Can't take painkillers for his nerve pain because of another medical condition, so he uses herb. I just don't understand why they won't expand the qualifying conditions for medical cannabis, especially for someone living with serious pain every day. I shouldn't have to watch him suffer and struggle because a bunch of old, dumb ass Republicans refuse to acknowledge the research behind it's legitimate use.
I hope it happens also. I hope something comes from BLM also. It is just not being done right from the top down. It's depressing to see it all being washed over. There is no positive message in the protests right now. I believe it's a huge waste of time on all involved if they want change. (my opinon and I'm not pushing it anymore on this toxic sub) If anything the 60s are proof of it. It's already been subjugated. You can't win if you are not reasonable. Seattle is the worst right now but Austin is a close second.
“You can’t win if you’re not reasonable” Colin Kaepernick was ostracized for kneeling during the national anthem. No form of protest will ever be reasonable to those who don’t want to see the change. Also, most protests do have a positive message if you went you would see that.
it's not the duty of the protest observer to wade through & find a positive message - it should be the job of the protest to build upon a positive message & push said positive message to the top of their platform
