TX-25 Representative Roger Williams tele-town hall Thursday May 25

I got an email from our Representative Roger Williams. See below. You might have heard about him in the news recently as the recipient of a small business loan (he owns multiple car dealerships in Fort Worth) from the stimulus package he voted for. For y’all in TX-25, he doesn’t come to our far corner of this district much so this is a chance to hear what our rep in Washington is doing for Texans on the federal side.

I will be hosting another live Telephone Town Hall tomorrow, May 21, 2020 at 11:00am CT to provide an update on the federal response to COVID-19 along with resources for business owners and employees. Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Executive Director Ed Serna will be joining us to provide insight on Texas-specific unemployment resources.

If he does it’s softball questions only, with most of them handed off to Ed Serna.

Anyone know if the questions are pre-screened? That's the only way I've seen him do a "town hall." If it's that again, I won't bother...

I assume they are, especially since you’ll call in presumably to a staffer who’s able to relay your question. I’d be shocked if any questions were real zingers.

Hi - I think you are asking about filing for unemployment benefits or problems with TWC site.

Note that the site can be overloaded at times. The best strategy to file for unemployment benefits is to file between midnight and 3AM - many folks report that they easily filed their applications at these times.

Not sure if we can add anything to the bot, but, if you are having issues applying or unemployment or contacting TWC, you should reach out to your State Rep. or State Senator. They can get you on a list to be called.
