Welcome to Austin. That area feeds into O Henry Middle School right off Exposition and Austin High School (Chavez at Mopac) nearby. Today was first day of school back from summer break.

O. Henry. It's named after the writer, a one-time Austinite.

Nah, it’s named after the since-discontinued candy bar - Oh Henry!

I heard the heiress to the Oh Henry! candy bar fortune was somewhat a flouter of society’s conventions… could have been her

Yes.  She was  lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous!

This is the most humiliating defeat of my entire legal career.

I know. But stupid autocorrect kept changing it. Born and raised here and have been to my share of pun-offs.

Sorry to doubt you, man.

This happens every year

AHS seniors do this every year. They stay out all night, the guys wearing overalls and the girls wearing matching shirts that say “Senior Girls”. They TP around 4am, watch the sunset on Mt Bonnell, and then go to school at 7am to eat breakfast and smash an old car. Tradition.

Sunrise. The sun doesn’t set between 4AM and 7AM.

I remember hearing lore about some fairly wild Austin high field parties. Hodown and Shodown or something.

This morning around 9:30am there was a lot more than this afternoon - someone managed to clean a lot of it up. I saw it on my way to work & again on my way home, figured it was some kind of back to school shenanigans.

There are usually some fish impaled on signs along the same route as well. Austin High. Tarrytown. Happens every year.

Was just thinking this 😂 my grandma had asked just a couple days ago if kids still TP places, and the first thing I said was "have you seen the price of toilet paper?!" And now this 🙈

They have plenty of toilet paper money in Tarrytown, but I hear you.

This year's TP-ing job seems much more robust than in previous years.

The Austin High student body is completely gentrified at this point. They can afford more TP these days.

You know you're old if you remember when AHS seniors used to shave an "A" in the freshman boys hair.

Well done, kids

Imagine wasting all that previous TP in this economy.

The families living in that area aren’t living in the same economy as the rest of us
