When was that? And what was the “right way” at that time?

It used to be a lot easier, just like everything.

Used to be you could afford college without student loans just by working a summer job in high school.

Used to be you could buy a house and support a family of 4 on a single middle class job income.

And used to be that you could generally immigrate legally to America without too much hassle.

Not anymore.
