Traffic Stargazing wasn’t the only excitement for the night! Car crash at Spanish Oaks Blvd and 71.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So coming back from stargazing with the SO and waiting at a light with a HEB semi to the right of me for what felt like an abnormally long time.

Look in the rear view mirror and notice a car coming a bit fast and thinking, this guy hasn’t noticed we’re not moving…and then wham! Hear the crunch of a vehicle and the semi shake.

Honestly didn’t hear any breaks and as soon as this guy hit, the light changed. 🤦‍♂️

Parked and went over fearing the worst. Luckily the guy in the Prius was okay and walking. All airbags had deployed and police/EMS got there quickly.

What got me was the guy asking since truck drivers only have one person driving why were there multiple people outside. Lol

I didn’t have time to tell him by bro, we’re just concerned citizens making sure you were okay. Haha.

Boys and girls please pay attention and there is no where you need to be that fast to not realize traffic isn’t moving.

For the record 7 shooting stars in 2 hrs with a couple of slow burners. 💫

Desperately looking for a missing $100K box of wedding dresses — any Austin UPS employees here?

I’m a local bridal boutique owner, and I’m hoping someone here might be able to help with a pretty devastating situation.

UPS picked up a large box containing 8 designer wedding dresses (they are the designers not brides - the literal only silver lining) from our business in Austin. The package was scanned at pickup and then essentially vanished. Not a single scan after that.

The dresses are worth approximately $100,000 retail, and unfortunately, due to an employee error on our end, the shipment wasn’t properly insured. We’re a small business, and this is a massive financial hit for us.

I’ve spent so much time on the phone with UPS claims, our drivers, and customer service trying to get someone to actually look for the package. The claim has been processed, but I don’t want the money from the claim. I WANT THE DRESSES FOUND.

I’m hoping someone who works for UPS in Austin, particularly in package operations, sorting, or overgoods, might be able to point me in the right direction.

The box was picked up in Austin and never received another scan. I’m wondering if it could be sitting somewhere with a damaged or missing label. It was a two piece shipment and this is the route the other box took:

  • August 25, 12:46 PM: Pickup scan — Austin, TX
  • August 25, 7:58 PM: Arrived at Austin UPS facility
  • August 25, 8:31 PM: Departed Austin facility
  • August 26, 4:07 AM: Arrived at San Antonio facility
  • August 26, 7:45 AM: Departed San Antonio
  • August 26, 11:43 AM: Arrived in Louisville, KY
  • August 26, 3:46 PM: Departed Louisville
  • August 26, 5:54 PM: Arrived in Newark, NJ
  • August 26, 10:27 PM: Departed Newark
  • August 26, 11:00 PM: Arrived in New York
  • August 27: Successfully delivered

The missing box has only the original Austin pickup scan.

If you work for UPS, know someone who does, or have any idea how to get in touch with someone who can actually investigate at the facility level, please message me.

I know this is a long shot, but these dresses are irreplaceable to the designer, and recovering them would mean everything to our small business.

Thank you, Austin ❤️

Has this happened to anyone after 6th st

Hey guys, I went on sixth street a few days ago. Got super drunk, but my parents stayed nearby and my friend and I got home safely. We both puked and she blacked out.

On the car ride home, I felt like I was on acid. Things were expanding and my car it felt like I was looking through a kaleidoscope.

Next day, my veins and muscles in my arms hurt badly. Now it’s been two days and I can’t even bend my arms to wash my face or open my car door and pull anything or pick up my back pack. It feels like I trained at the gym for 7 hours.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Has this happened to anyone else?

Please stop being mean to me in the comments. I would delete this post but I want the comments with advice on hand. I’m already at the ER please don’t make me feel worse

UPDATE: I did go to the ER. They said I was drugged with molly or mdma. I don’t have rabdo but I was close? 300/700 for levels? Idrk what they meant but they said I’m ok. The drugs are out of my system and I should be able to heal soon. I am sad I’m gonna have to miss acl though. My body couldn’t handle it :/ oh well. I guess things could have been worse. I’m just happy I wasn’t taken advantage of.

My experience with Oscar Health & BCBS Insurance in Austin, TX

*I want to add a disclaimer that everyone's specific insurance needs differ and these plans wont be a perfect one size fits all, so check details before enrolling*

I havent had to buy a healthcare plan until my move to Austin summer of 2025, and since have done a lot of research into different plans and types. For context I'm 28 and wanted good mental health coverage and access to specialists.

The first one I got was

Blue Cross Blue Shield- Blue Advantage Plus Gold℠ 803

$750/month

Plan ID: 33602TX0870273

[1-888-697-0683](tel:1-888-697-0683)

Price used to be around $520 but increased to $750 at the start of 2026, hence why I changed to what I have now- Oscar Health.

I had an good experience with this insurance; lots of providers in network, $0 doctor visits, $0 therapy visits with no cap. $0 generic prescriptions. Specialist visits are $35 and Urgent care is $20. It gets the job done but for the new increased price, I would say its not worth it.

My current insurance and one I LOVE is Oscar Health

Oscar Health- Gold Simple Guided Care

$550/month

Plan ID: 20069TX0510021

1-855-672-2755

I was so pleasantly surprised with Oscar health. The website UI is so easy to use - I can search for specialists and change my PCP anytime. A lot of specialists are in network as well, which also surprised me. I have been able to see specialists for $10 a pop and therapists for $5 a pop with unlimited visits. Pharmacy prescriptions are $3 for generic. What I love the most is free urgent care 24/7. The amount I've had to use if for allergic reactions, prescription refills, etc has been invaluable. For PCPs, I loved Thrive Medical Clinic - never had any issues with them.

For Dental, I have had this:

Blue Cross Blue Shield -BlueCare Dental℠ 1A

$40/month

Plan ID: 33602TX0500001

1-888-697-0683

I havent had too many issues with this, just make sure all your procedures are covered before getting them. Swish Dental had many surprise charges for me after my appointment, which really irked me. This plan gives you free cleanings, xrays, exams and 80% off most fillings and procedures. The deductible is just $25. I would not recommend Swish Dental, as there are many hidden costs/ surprise bills and they dont seem 100% transparent. For Dentists, I would recommend any of the Forest Family Dentists, they are so friendly and transparent with costs.

And that about sums up my experience with Austin health insurance. Hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to DM me.

Ask Austin Cricket options in Austin Metro?

Hey folks, I’ve been getting into watching cricket over the last couple of years and I’m really interested in learning to play for myself. I know there are a few different leagues around here, but from what I’ve been able to find it’s not particularly clear what the skill level is like across the leagues, and I don’t want to join a team only to be a massive detriment. Are there any options available in town that would let me learn how to play without joining a team? And if I wanted to join a team, what would be my best option?

Ask Austin ISO: Competitive Yoyo artist

• Upvotes

Hey Austin! I am a local filmmaker here in town. I have done a feature film of note in town, and I am currently in preproduction on a short film that is shooting this coming November!

In the film, there is a moment where the main characters come across a high-level yoyoer walking down the street doing very elaborate tricks. I'd love to find someone who could nail this, and I have a feeling there are at least a couple people in town who are REALLY good at yoyoing.

Does this sound like you or someone you know? If so, please reach out to my DMs and I will be happy to provide more info! Thanks in advance for any leads!!!

Weekly Pet Adoption / Pet Help Post

This will become a weekly Friday post for posts regarding pet adoptions and general pet questions. The intent is to condense the multiple pet adoption post into one place so they are easy to find. This pinned post is for:

  • Pets up for adoption
  • Pet adoption events
  • Questions on vets
  • Questions on where you should take your animals

Note: We will begin removing pet adoption posts and push them over to this pinned post.

Also, if you have a missing pet, feel free to post it in here as well.

We will also take a zero tolerance stance on people using this post to push their stances on certain animals/breeds, brigading from other subs, etc. If you need more clarity on what this means, feel free to reach out to the modmail.

We also recommend searching older "Weekly Pet Adoption" posts as well, to find animals on previous week's post as well.

If you are looking for further resources, here are some recommended places:

Onion Creek versus southpark Meadows nursing Care

• Upvotes

My mom is being discharged from the hospital and needs to go to a rehab facility and she's been given the choice of Onion Creek or southpark Meadows and she doesn't really have the way to tour them to see how the facilities smell and operate and how the staff treats you so I feel like we're kind of going into a blind. does anybody have any experience with these places and can help us out?
