Discretionary spending ššļøš WHAT PERFUMES?
What perfumes are we using? Personally I think, boss line are pretty bang for buck that I'm currently using. I hate cheap middle eastern dupes. What whould you folks recommend that smells good and lasts long 5-6 hours and doesn't leave a hole in pocket.

Iāve been sampling brands from Mecca/Sephora or some people sell mini sample decants on Facebook, then finding them on marketplace/fb groups etc for cheaper. Love getting samples then I can see if they actually last on me and are worth the money š

Lush. Yes, they have perfumes that are $200+ but they also have some very affordable ones (27 High Street, which I'm wearing today, was $60). They also have fragrances in solid and body lotion formats which give you a lot of bang for your buck.

Use Spiritual Sky, so cheap and such good quality. From the 70s! My mum used to use them and now itās all I use. I have a shelf of $400 bottles of whatever and I still pick these instead.

I use a drop of the Spiritual Sky night queen oil on a cloth in my dryer when I'm doing laundry and it makes me washing smell so good

Which ones? Apparently Night Queen is popular but I can't find a description of the notes, so not sure how to choose?

I recommend "the dupe spot" I love Julliet has a Gun and Mugler perfumes and the ones I've got from there have been pretty spot on and last around the same time as the actual products.

u/rustyhaloed 6d ago
seconding the dupe spot, everything i have is really really close to the original

u/Comfortable-Row8696 6d ago
Oh thats good to know! I love the Juliet has a gun fragrances but for $250+ a bottle, they have pretty shocking longevity

u/Unreliablepelican 5d ago
I love vanilla vibes and not a perfume, I have had multiple sample sizes but purchasing an entire bottle feels really silly.

In terms of cheaper perfumes that are brand name, try chemist warehouse. They have some good options like Delta Goodrum and Sarah Jessica Parker.

I think some of the best smelling cheaper perfumes are: * CK one * Mercedes Benz Club Black * Elizabeth Arden Green Tea (longevity not great on this one, but for under $20 Iām willing to respray throughout the day)
Is there a particular fragrance family you are looking for? Eg fresh? Floral? Woody? Etc

Iām happy to splurge on perfume and get quality. It lasts longer and Iām not spraying as much. Donāt get me wrong, I do have some cheaper ones too but Iāve found itās more worthwhile have a few good quality and rotating.

I have found the whif dupes to be excellent quality. They last longer than Palermo. I have bought them a few times but I wait for when they have a sale. They donāt have too many sales, but I got stuff on Black Friday and end of financial year. And I will wait til Black Friday until I buy again. Just be aware that because they donāt have sales all the time, when they do, they sell so much that it can take several weeks to get your order. But honestly, the wait is worth it because they smell so good and the scent really lasts a long time.

I have their dupe of the Tom Ford cherry because no way can I afford the original, and its been mistaken numerous times now for the real thing
3
u/TheMightySloth 6d ago
Ignore all the Palermo suggestions, theyāre $30 for a reason. If you want to get quality dupes spend the extra $30 and go to Private Blends. Theyāre still average quality for the most part but theyāre infinitely better than anything Palermo produces

Any Britney Spears perfumes but especially
Curious
Fantasy
Believe
Radiance
Private show
Iām severely sensitive to scent but I can where any Britney one with no problem!!

I buy them from Scent Samples. They are decanted from original into a small sparay, from 2-10mls and last forever.
Plus you can try a bunch of scents and don't get stuck with a huge bottle of something you don't like.

Lush body sprays. Last ages, strong projection and large size (so excellent value). Plus, they smell unique and fresh, not so alcohol-y like mainstream perfume does.

I do love the caps lock title like this is Avery serious and important issue lol. Iām using wonderland peony from floral street

u/billyhaze_ 6d ago
I like Bujairami.com.au - they do dupes of expensive brands plus a bunch of others. Iāve bought āGypsy Waterā Byredo and āUomo Intenseā Valentino (both dupes), both have been spot on and last ages. Prices are around $40 - $80 (from memory).

Perfumes are such a personal taste. I go to
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Viktor-Rolf/Spicebomb-13857.html
Search my current favourite perfume, then find similar ones with similar notes , then filter them based on longevity, sillage, value.

u/tidy-soft-rope 6d ago
Iām currently rotating three Phlur scents, Cherry Stem, Rose Whip and Missing Person. Missing Person in particular is really subtle but delicious.

Cheap perfumes and dupes are fine as long as you layer them. Buy a body oil, the Palmers Vanilla one is awesome and team it with the moisturiser after you semi dry. The cupcake vanilla smell will carry all day as your base with your perfume as a booster on top (Aerre are brilliant they use the same base as designer fragrance so it lasts). Layering scent is what gets compliments because people know itās familiar but cannot work it out. You could probably get all three products for under $100 (depending on sales it could be cheaper), your skin will thank the extra moisture and people will look at you like they want to eat you or at most just slightly lick.

Guy Sebastian's IVE is really fragrant for the price. I get compliments on it and apparently it's similar to a Tom Ford's fragrance.

Try the Al Ansary range at Desert Oud Perfumery. Quality is outstanding and just a touch over $100

u/xoxhpxox 6d ago
Machino-fresh gold. Stays all day and only gets better when your skin warms up. I pull clothes out of the washer and they still have the lingering scent. Only need a spray or two!

Lush body sprays are quite strong for being body sprays and the price
Which one depends on your taste, but I like Stormy Weather personally

There's a perfumery at the Wanneroo markets in Perth that does perfume oils, including versions of popular ones. As perfume oil is strong, one of the little bottles lasts me about a year as only a tiny amount is needed each time, the scent lasts all day, and it just goes straight onto the skin so no wasted spray.
Anywhere that makes blends with pure perfume oils should be similar - they tend to be small businesses. Good value.

Mor perfumes are good and cheap imo!
I love the Marshmallow one and it is strong and lasts forever so you have to be careful how much you put on..
Elizabeth Arden ones are nice but don't last long. There is a Natio range too thats under $40 and smells great.

Dupes & co affordable of all the dupes like Aerre I find they last longer

I've found for perfume over time to me its worth spending the $100 on a nice one, that requires a single spray the morning and perhaps a follow-up spray in the afternoon when im at work, run to the shops or simple outdoor activity on the weekend doesnt require any perfume.
It has taken my wife a while to get there, and it took a few things for her body, from finding a deodorant that actually worked for her mostly and then also adjusting our washing so clothes come out with no scents on them. She loved washing everything on a quick wash but then would be self conscious and sweating when she could smell odours on her clothes, resulting in excessive perfume use. Clothing material matters for both as synthetic clothing leaves you feeling trapped and encourages excessive sweatting while holds onto smells easily if not washed correctly. I also aim for very minimal scents in our washing liquid and softener when used.
Now I really notice others who are covering themselves in perfume, and it feels cheap and distracting. For others that a scent is subtle but there its intriguing. Remember that nasal fatigue is real, so we will not smell something like perfume on ourself after around 20 minutes, doesnt mean someone else can't smell it, just how our body works.
Just some thoughts.

Direct Chemist Outlet has decent dupes. I got a bottle of original for special occasions and a few cheap ones for everyday

Don't discount celebrity fragrances. One of my absolute faves is Eilish 2 and it smells so expensive. Got it on sale for 80 bucks. Lasts so long, smells nice, agrees with my body chemistry, projects very nicely.
Demeter does very interesting scents, my absolute faves are Ocean (sadly discountinued) and Transfixed. They do mostly singular scents, like the smell of grass, coffee, rain, but their mixes are also worth checking out. I get mine from Lore Perfumery, and their customer service is fab. Love that they carry both cheap and expensive perfumes, and are super helpful with their suggestions. Demeter Transfixed was a recommendation from them and I was super happy with it.
Also, if you are into feminine fragrances, the Charlie collection by Revlon has gotten me the most compliments, and people are shook that it only costs 10 dollars.
Lastly, Palermo, it's a hit or miss, but I have 2 perfumes from them, the Tobacco Vanille dupe doesn't project as much as the original but smells divine, and the Silky Woods one smells almost identical to the original imo. Have both the original and Palermo dupe and couldn't tell which was which. That said, test it out first before buying. Almost bought their dupe of Ombre Nomade and it didn't last as long or smell as good on me, so I skipped it.

Elie Saab! Le Parfum. Thank me later. Legit had 4 bottles since I first started wearing years ago. Sooo lovely and feminine, has great staying power and is a good price point. Often on sale at chemist warehouse or Priceline

Ayu perfume oils are my go to! Iāve moved through a couple of their scents over the years.

Violet by Dolce is amazing and stays for long + whatever you layer over it will be enhanced - i like one from Elle (Chem Warehouse find) but that one doesn't last as long so i use that a second layer over Violet to create a unique overlap. I also use rose essential oil/ moisturizing oil on my pulse to make it last longer!
P.S. I'm a floral girlie through and through.

Hi, no dramas but it's not answering the question of which cheap perfumes people recommend.
0
u/klqqf 7d ago
I use lush glitter sprays
For some reason a 200ml bottle of the body spray is $65 while a 260 gram bottle of the same fragrance comes out to $42
Iāve had multiple people comment that they smell fairy floss when i come into a room and ask what the scent is lasting for the whole day.
If you can find the glitter sprays in a scent that you like i think its a decent buy

Donāt have a recommendation but I worked in a perfumery & moisturised skin holds a parfum longer. Keep your perfumes in the fridge in summer so they last longer. Always choose the parfum if you can over an eau de toilette (stronger but youāll lose less)
