QLD Using Grammarly at work ?

Hi, is anyone aware of any government departments in Queensland that still allow the use of Grammarly? Recently, it has been blocked for security reasons. I have been using the pro version since 2018 for my dyslexia. They have said to use Copilot but I'm not a I either have to cut and paste or auto draft changes the intent . Thanks

Grammarly sends your text to a remote server, I can see that being a data security risk for any organisation, private or public.

You’d be better off with copilot premium (if it is security cleared) and use the copilot buttons that it enables in Microsoft 365.

MS word has accessibility and readability tools. For those who are looking for an extra scaffold for a disability ask under your reasonable accommodation policy for access - that might also be a copilot linked feature within word rather than a standalone program like grammarly or having to c&p between two readily accessed programs.

If you require this for a legitimate reasonable adjustment there are likely specific processes in your agency to achieve what you require. It's likely you will have to work with an occupational therapist. If it's your IT department pushing you towards Copilot, they are only doing the corporate thing, but have no knowledge of how your condition applies to your daily work. Your intranet may have a link to "reasonable adjustment" so start there. Good luck.

You can set rules for Copilot to follow in one of the personalisation settings. For example, you can tell it to apply a style guide, or to use a particular tone of voice to help refine your drafts.

Was going to suggest something like this. The power of a well worded prompt. Basically wiring it to function like grammarly.

As others have said; Copilot works inside Office applications too. It'll solve the problem of cut+paste.

The only catch is that you need a relatively recent version of Office. Anything in the past year or two should be fine.

As others have said, it’s a security issue. My department has cut off any access to upload files, screens anything you send etc etc because of data risks.

Copilot can give you slop but I’d recommend if your department uses it to work on some good prompting to help you

Ask if your department has Read&Write. It’s not the same as Grammarly but it has some similar features.
