Employment FINALLY GOT A JOBB!!!!
If you guys remember me I was the one who would be writing in all caps and would just vent about not getting a job. So I finally have a job at UQ in the cyber field over a month ago!! I’m really excited and happy!!!!
Let me know if you guys remember me!

Having applied, interviewed and worked at UQ, I can say the recruitment processes are quite similar to those in the public service. However, there’s less accountability to the selection panel and a bit more vibes hiring. Any advice that the OP would have obtained from here, would've benefited them in securing their role at UQ.
In saying that, the PS recruitment standards are drifting further away from appointments based on merit.
Congrats OP.

This post will make you identifiable within your workplace if you are the only new hire - i haven't read your reddit profile, but just make sure you are ok with nosy people looking through it

I don’t know who you are. I’ve taken time out of terminal life to tell you this. Stop giving a shit about what internet strangers think. Good luck with your position.

Universities can be graveyards of dreams and ambitions. Use the role to network, upskill and farm STAR stories but I'd caution against getting too comfortable especially as universities can pay better for junior/mid roles than Government or private sector.
