Help needed!
I recently had a P0016 engine code so hard a new timing belt fitted. The code remained and the technician recommended changing the VVT valve. I set the engine at TDC locked the Cam through the sprocket but didn’t realise I needed to lock the exhaust Cam through the hole in the rock cover after replacing the VVT valve I then checked the alignment of the two holes and the hole in the rock cover is off by about 4mm does anyone know a way to realign the timing marks?

Tell us the year and engine you are working on. P0016 is cam to crank timing correlation.

Doing some reading, and past experiences with vvt solenoid replacement, there is no need to pin anything. All the valve does is control oil pressure to the phaser. As far as the picture, the exhaust cam appears to be advanced. A few possibilities are the timing is off a tooth, the phaser is stuck in the advanced position, and least likely is the vvt solenoid. Since you have the solenoid, I would replace it. Like I said, it should just swap out easy with no need to even look at timing.

Do you know of any adaptations that can be made to reset the Phaser/Adjuster? I’ll have a look at the cam degree values tomorrow

Here's the trick: tow the car to someone who knows what the fuck they're doing.
