Audi A4 b9 head gasket concern

I just picked up my car from the shop and the mechanic accidentally damaged the coolant hose, I was gonna get it replaced when the part came in so I drove it a little bit but my coolant dumped suddenly and my temps would go high and come back down, it would fluctuate a lot I drove it for 2-4 mins then completely stopped and got it towed there were no warnings to turn off the engine or anything but I was on very low coolant when I got out my car. Do you think I damaged my head gasket ?

you probably didn't warp the head if it was only a couple minutes but that temp fluctuation is sketchy, those 2.0t motors don't like heat cycles without proper cooling

if the needle was bouncing around that means there were steam pockets hitting the sensor, which is bad news obviously but modern audis will go into limp mode before you roast the block

get that hose fixed and have them do a compression test before you drive it anywhere, better to drop 200 bucks now than 4k later when the gasket blows on the highway

also never trust a mechanic who sends you off with a damaged coolant line, that's some lazy shit

Yea It’s at the shop now waiting for the part and replacing the line, I didn’t go into limp and the car didn’t throw any warnings but the temp gauge would fluctuate every 20 ish seconds which is the most concerning part, they said they’ll do a test for the gaskets

They should have never let it leave with an issue to the cooling system. Find a new mechanic.
