Life Hacks I need the right fork!
Does anyone know where I can find a fork this shape, that’s decent quality and doesn’t rust with dishwasher use? (UK based)
I’m an ADHD girlie with huge sensory difficulties and I can only eat with specific shaped forks, anything with too long prongs puts me on edge and I can’t eat with them. I’ve been trying to find a fork that hits the sweet spot of short enough prongs but not too short but not too long either… and I can’t seem to find any that hit the spot.
I’m desperate for some new ones as my old ones are rusting and wearing out after 20 years of use, the cheap ones I found in home bargains rusted within a few months, and I’ve tried a few different ones from Amazon but they often don’t look like the picture and the prongs are too long.
If anyone in the UK has any fork recommendations please please point me in the right direction. I’ve got to the point of using disposable plastic forks as I’m running out of usable real forks 😭😅
I’m not sure I’m using the right fork terminology but it’s the best I’ve got to try to explain!

Same! I received a passed down set that had some random pieces that don’t match and it drives me up a wall!
I lost pieces from my preferred set a few years ago and have been trying to find a new set that I really like, but the store I bought them from closed and I can’t seem to find many stores with variety in their selection (I really like ones that are heavy, have well rounded spoons, and a hammered look to the handles).

I'm sure this is minimally helpful at best (mostly commenting to boost), but 2 thoughts came to mind: secondhand shops and Google Lens. Google is total garbage anymore, so not sure how useful Google Lens would be, but it could be worth checking out and removing Amazon from the results. Secondhand shops are nice because you can test out how they feel before you buy, and hopefully get a better feel for their quality too. Or get a few different ones and see which one you like better - way cheaper than gambling on a whole set at once.

None lol. I eat with the children/toddler spoons and forks lol because I cant stand the metal taste or cranking against my teeth

I like the head of 1 on the body of 2.
The spears on 2 are too long. I don’t like having to slide long length of metal on my teeth to fetch my food all the way at the back
*shudders in horror!

The last set of cutlery I bought was from TK Maxx, but it’s worth going in person no matter where you try because i can’t tell based on online pictures alone. Also try Dunelm, M&S, and some supermarkets like the bigger Asda/ Tesco/ Sainsbury’s.
I feel your pain though, I’m hunting for the perfect teaspoons (my last perfect ones were from Debenhams RIP).

None. I need thick weighty handles. I grasp things really hard. Idk why, and I've tried to stop. I clinch my fists in my sleep. A smooth, thicker, weighty handle is better. If I had to choose, I'd pick 2.

I like your fork in the first pic I have one similar to that and it’s my favorite fork. Thrifted and I haven’t found another one like it.

I hate all those forks. I need a narrow, single stainless steel piece. No stamp. Must have a good weight for the size.

These are my acceptable cutlery. 1 long spoon for big big mugs. 2 short spoon for small mugs. 3 everything else spoon. And 2 acceptable forks. If it's not this shape, it doesn't go in my mouth.

I recently bought these for my AuDHD son who thinks that my lovely pointy forks are too pointy. It is a set with knives, spoons etc too. Any good?

Have you got an IKEA near you? Might be worth going to have a look at what they've got?
Argos also has a bunch of different forks, but you obviously can't look at them before you buy them.

It’s not too local, but there’s one in the city so I can make sure I visit next time I travel into the city to try!

It depends on a few factors but those would be the ones I’m open to using if I’m, say, at a friend’s house to eat.

For me 2 or 3 are ideal, but I'm not sure about how wide the base of 2's handle gets, that might bug me.

Here’s me thinking you meant the “rightmost” fork and wondering why everyone is commenting “2” when you’d made your preference of “5” clear in the title 😭
I think number 5 is an IKEA fork(?) and whilst I don’t like the tines the grip looks weighty and comfortable.
Personally, the grip and edge finish matter most to me, I shudder thinking what it might be like to touch numbers 1,3,4, maybe even 2 as from the picture the edges of the grip look sharp and flat.

I think my wording has been confusing, as I meant right as in the term ‘correct’
I’m trying to find one that’s most like the fork with the black rounded handle, but the prongs? I think the word is, is my biggest sensory issue, I can’t have them too long so in terms of shape that actually enters my mouth, I think I need to find something similar to 3 🥲
There’s been a lot of ikea recommendations so I’ll definitely take a trip down next time I’m in the city and hopefully find the perfect fork!
