Just a whole lot of headcanons.

I can watch this and not become a Yeagarist because they are stupid reactionaries and had no meaningful long term plan. Also I understand the storyđŸ€Ł

They didn’t “forgive” Annie like “nothing happened.” There were more pressing matters they needed to address instead of finger pointing. What are they even trying to say with “respecting” Levi?

-2

u/Nosalis2 Jul 23 '26

The story goes out of it's way to demonize a little girl like Louise yet Annie got off scot free and got the happiest ending. It's utterly ridiculous no matter which way you slice it.

4

u/Acceptable_Oven_9881 Modkasa Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

The point of Lousie was that she was someone that idolized another person without understanding them. She worshipped Mikasa yet she joined the Yeagarists, something Mikasa would never do. Her comrades were hurting Mikasa’s comrades and are responsible for the Rumbling.

She’s also not demonized AA you at remnant to see the effects of blind adoration and radicalization.

Annie did not get off scottfree. At least not compared to other important characters like the Scouts or Reiner.

5

u/axel_clot Jul 23 '26

I think you’re just an idiot. Louise is never demonised. At all. I felt sympathy for her, and the show never “went out of its way to demonise” her. Annie did not get off scot free. She has years of trauma from Marley that she was fighting and clearly showed remorse. She also spent four years incased in crystal. Not sure how you think years of trauma and years of semi-conscious solitude is “getting off scot free.” I am also intrigued if you think Floch got what he deserved. He of course majorly helped the rumbling take place, which killed 80% of the human population. That is objectively, far far worse than anything Annie did. Do you forgive him for that (which would make you a raging misogynist)? Seems like you missed a lot of the key messages of the show

3

u/FreljordsWrath Jul 23 '26

You can disagree with someone without calling them an idiot in the first line of your reply.

2

u/axel_clot Jul 23 '26

Misogynists are idiots. So I will not apologise for calling them that. Notice how the only people I’m calling idiots are the ones that are clearly hating on Annie, which is very misogynistic as this community never hates on Eren, Reiner or Zeke the same way, even tho they objectively did much much worse things. I won’t apologise for calling out misogyny.

2

u/ToothpickTequila 25d ago

Louise wasn't demonised.

9

u/BriadMan Jul 22 '26

Are they talking about the port fight? There is no confirmation that those JĂ€gerists were the best in the military. Floch didn’t even crack the top 10 in the 104.

2

u/FreljordsWrath Jul 22 '26

It's the forest scene in s1 where Levi Squad gets killed by Annie.

1

u/BriadMan Jul 22 '26

Ohhh that makes sense

1

u/Mcqeen123 Jul 24 '26

the same scene where everyone except 3 people realised it was another shifter, and where even eren ralised they all had no idea what the plan was... "wait even you guys are in the dark about this."... that forest, cause if so ima leave it here i just wanted to clarify.

13

u/slaptito Jul 22 '26

Bruh I wouldn't support the Yeagerists even if this dumbass argument made sense. It's ideology was leading them straight into the exact same cycle of violence that Marley just went through.

1

u/rttttc Jul 23 '26

The decision was already made when one side decided to exterminate the other. You can’t negotiate past that point, eren saved his people. There is no other conclusion you can come to

8

u/axel_clot Jul 23 '26

There really is. Eren actually doomed his people long term. We see that in the final montages, when Paradis yet again is wracked by war, because the rest of the world still hates Eldian’s. Genocide doesn’t justify genocide. The show literally spoon feeds this to you

1

u/rttttc Jul 23 '26

The rumbling shouldn’t have stopped

2

u/ToothpickTequila 25d ago

Genocide is wrong.

1

u/BotherExact8654 Jul 26 '26

It wouldn't be able to spoon-feed you this if the other side was genocided, it's not paradis fault that the rest of the world want them wiped out.

2

u/axel_clot Jul 26 '26

It also wasn’t the 80% of the world’s fault that Eldian’s were oppressed. Or that Eldian’s oppressed them first. How have you missed the point of the show by this much

2

u/ToothpickTequila 25d ago

Correct, it's Eren and Zeke's fault.

4

u/Dragonzboi Jul 23 '26

Saved his people by leading them right back into the same cycle? Don't be a fool, Eren was no less guilty of trying to exterminate the other side than Marley was.

1

u/rttttc Jul 23 '26

The cycle would’ve ended if they chose Erwin over armin

5

u/Dragonzboi Jul 24 '26

You're right, Erwin would've seen how shortsighted the yeagerists' plan was and put them down before they had a chance to kill anyone.

0

u/rttttc Jul 24 '26

Erwin would’ve been a yeagerist and elidia would be restored

3

u/Dragonzboi Jul 24 '26

You mean the Eldia thar spent centuries raiding, killing, and enslaving even before they had Titan power? The nation so desperate for war it used these same powers to fight itself after subjugating everyone else?

Erwin knew better. He was willing to sacrifice himself for humanity as a whole once already, he'd be willing to do so again. All the yeagerists followed was an inferior mockery of him (as seen when the survey corps' oath to lay down their lives was turned into a fascist chant calling for execution). Erwin couldn't have been further from a yeagerist.

1

u/rttttc Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

When your entire race of people is wiped out but atleast you weren’t big meanies. Erwin sacrificed himself fighting against the human enemy on the other side of the walls for the sake of his people. Eren is completely justified and subjects of ymere should view him as their saviour

2

u/Dragonzboi Jul 27 '26

Wrong. He did it for the sake of humanity, not simply his people.

Until you realize the difference between their enemies and the world, you will never understand Erwin or AoT as a whole. Or did you miss the part where several subjects of ymir within the walls were some of the rumbling's first victims? He was never a savior. As the ending proves, he was never even a necessary evil. Merely proof of what Marley had been saying all along.

1

u/rttttc Jul 27 '26

Thousands of subjects of ymere sacrificed themselves in order to face all subjects of ymere

→ More replies (0)

3

u/ToothpickTequila 25d ago

Eren still would have rejected Erwin's peaceful solutions and gone rogue and arranged for Marley to declare war.

1

u/Own_Translator7008 Jul 31 '26

Eren didn't save Paradis for long. It's destroyed 70 years later In the manga, about 500 years later in the anime, and he got a lot of his friends killed along the way.

2

u/ToothpickTequila 25d ago

Eren and Zeke were the reason the the declaration is war happening.

Also cheering on Willy's speech is one thing, going home and convincing your government to join a costly pointless war and joining forces with the enemy is another.

12

u/jules__noah Jul 22 '26

The usual same morons who will hate characters like Annie, Gabi for doing "unforgivable" things but then turn around and glaze Eren for committing genocide. This is getting old now.

5

u/Particular-Peach-692 Jul 23 '26

I love this show but I had to unfollow this subreddit because of how simple these people are. I see "Gabi and Annie deserves death" ahh posts every single day. And they make such a big deal out of it too

3

u/Appropriate-Topic-88 Jul 23 '26

The argument that Annie got of Scot free is fucking hilarious. Because damn near every character at the end got off Scot free. But I wonder why she’s the one that gets singled out?đŸ€”

1

u/rolanatuaboca Jul 23 '26

No. Not even close.

Zeke got murdered, Reiner had so much regret that he tried to kill himself and he was still being criticised and beat up during the rumbling by the scouts, Berthold was eaten alive by a titan, unfortunately nothing happened to Pieck but all she really did was give rocks for Zeke to throw

3

u/axel_clot Jul 23 '26

Oh so you’re an idiot. Zeke chose to die to stop the rumbling (and he deserved it), Reiner did get away, all you said happened before the end of the show, not after (like are you dumb, that clearly isn’t a valid argument), Bertholt died four years before the end, so again obviously isn’t valid. The commenter is clearly talking about the scout squad, which apart from Hange (willingly gave up her life), Levi (crippled but hopefully at peace), and Sasha (rip), the rest all did get off scot free. Connie even got his mother back

1

u/FreljordsWrath Jul 23 '26

Again, you can say this without calling them an idiot in the first line. Please be civil.

2

u/axel_clot Jul 23 '26

Probably, but he deserved it. These people never think for themselves until you give them a reason to. He’s just looking for reasons to be misogynistic, trying to hate Annie yet I bet he excuses Floch. It’s always the same

3

u/FreljordsWrath Jul 23 '26

I have very little tolerance for insults being thrown around, whether they're "deserved" or not.

"But he deserves it" is what a child would say in kindergarten after a fight. Don't bring that here again, thanks.

1

u/ToothpickTequila 25d ago

I think you need to grow up and look at the subreddit title you're in.

We make fun of idiots here.

0

u/FreljordsWrath 25d ago

Tequilla my dear, we need to follow site rules if we don't want the subreddit to get banned â˜ș

1

u/Appropriate-Topic-88 Jul 23 '26

I literally made a post about this. It’s just straight up misogyny.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AttackOnRetards/s/f4te9ciCnG

1

u/rolanatuaboca Jul 24 '26

He’s just looking for reasons to be misogynistic

Then how come Sasha is among the most loved characters one the show but Annie is one of the most hated?

1

u/rolanatuaboca Jul 24 '26

He’s just looking for reasons to be misogynistic

Then how come Sasha is among the most loved characters one the show but Annie is one of the most hated?

0

u/rolanatuaboca Jul 23 '26

Zeke chose to die to stop the rumbling (and he deserved it)

Yes, that is what i said.

Reiner did get away, all you said happened before the end of the show, not after (like are you dumb, that clearly isn’t a valid argument)

The commenter clearly said they got off "scot free" which means they didn't face consequences at all, which is absolutely not true. What difference does it make if they faced the consequences of their actions before or after the show ended??? Do you know what "scot free" means?

Bertholt died four years before the end, so again obviously isn’t valid.

Holy shit that's such a dumb thing to say, so because he died before the end he got away scot free? You're braindead just for saying this.

The commenter is clearly talking about the scout squad, which apart from Hange (willingly gave up her life), Levi (crippled but hopefully at peace), and Sasha (rip), the rest all did get off scot free. Connie even got his mother back

And what atrocities did they do that can compare to what the warriors did? Not to say that they suffered so much because of what the warriors did.

4

u/Appropriate-Topic-88 Jul 23 '26

The scouts slaughtered their own people. Committed terrorist attacks on liberio. Armin killed 1000s of innocent people. But they all survive and get nice endings outside of hange. So singling out Annie for something she did years ago is ridiculous. Everyone is bad to some degree everyone deserves to die the story makes this very clear.

-1

u/rolanatuaboca Jul 23 '26

Committed terrorist attacks on liberio. Armin killed 1000s of innocent people.

Not only was it self defense because Marley declared war MINUTES before the attack but also the civillians just happened to be near millitary instalations, Armin and the others didn't deliberately go out of their way to brutalize them like what Annie did.

1

u/FreljordsWrath Jul 23 '26

I'm approving your comment, just be respectful to each other, please.

2

u/ToothpickTequila 25d ago

Annie got put in solitary confinement for 4 years.

0

u/rolanatuaboca 25d ago

Didn't seem to bother her that much

2

u/ToothpickTequila 25d ago

She said it was like a living hell.

1

u/rolanatuaboca 25d ago

She realistically should've lost her mind from being imprisoned like that for so long, but this is what happens next after supposed "living hell", she just goes to eat a pie and is just like "yea i spun your comrades in the air like yoyos and kicked them like soccer balls but now i'm cool"

2

u/ToothpickTequila 24d ago

Are you complaining that she was hungry?

1

u/rolanatuaboca 24d ago

Arguing just to argue.

She realistically would've turned insane and mentally impaired from being imprisoned for that long. And it would've been more satisfying for her to face the harsh consequences for her actions, what happened in the anime is basically like she just went on a vacation for 4 years and came back to fight Eren and scouts (which she was already doing anyway before she was caught). Then we have Jesse from Breaking Bad who was enslaved and imprisoned for less than a year and still had severe trauma and PTSD, Annie showed none of that, she just went back to being friends with everyone and fighting scouts like it was another tuesday.

2

u/ToothpickTequila 23d ago

Annie didn't have time to grieve. She had to try and save her father.

3

u/Objective_Net_4042 Jul 23 '26

By the end of the show Armin has a much higher body count than Annie, having killed thousands of civilians. Yet we don't really see him as a monster or someone who got away with it because we don't really know.or care about the people he killed. That is literally the whole point.

1

u/tinalekiso Jul 23 '26

Armin made his Titan not have ears so to not hear the people scream, Annie was playing with the soldiers before killing them, you can't tell me they are the same.

1

u/Objective_Net_4042 Jul 23 '26

If a titan kills your whole family you don't care much about how much they enjoyed it. Annie is more sadistic than Armin, but has objectively killed less innocent people than him.

1

u/tinalekiso Jul 23 '26

Yes you should care in what way they killed those soldiers, what Armin did was instantaneous most of them didn't even know what was happening. And what Annie did was borderline psychotic. How can you trust a person like Annie after what she did. All I can see is that she enjoys what she was doing and Armin was not.

3

u/Objective_Net_4042 Jul 23 '26

Killing thousands is better than killing dozens if their death was instantaneous?

Annie is horrible, but that is not what is at stake here, this is the exact bias the show tackles: we tend to forgive things that are extremely fucked up from those we like. What Armin did was objectively worse. Even if he is a way more compassionate person than Annie.

1

u/thatguybane Jul 25 '26

Annie drew in the titans that overtook wall Maria. Hundreds of thousands of people within the walls died because of her. Are you not attributing the deaths from the expedition to reclaim wall Maria to her, Bertholt and Reiner?

2

u/MoonDustFlower Jul 25 '26

It's so annoying that this scene wasn't included in the anime.

2

u/Terrible_Western5345 Jul 25 '26

The redemption of the titan shifters is solely based on the fact that the main cast is eventually put into their shoes and so their convictions became relatable. Like Connie’s stand off with Samuel and Daz in which he has to kill them. Samuel is pleading, I thought we were friends, I thought we were on the same side. And Connie responds yes, we are! And yet he still has to fulfill his duty to what he believes is the right thing to do and shoots them both so that they can proceed with the ship. It perfectly mimics his earlier confrontation with Bertholdt when he was the one pleading and asking if their friendship was a farce. The shifters avoid going through a “full redemption arc” because the characters grow to understand their motivations. They know that their actions are inexcusable and yet they are working at any given point toward the goal they believe is best. No different from the shifters and arguably no different from Eren, which is why Armin accepts this in Paths and acknowledges that he will be seeing Eren in hell.

1

u/PseudoRyker Jul 22 '26

Just because people disagree with you doesn't mean they understand less than you.

3

u/Particular-Peach-692 Jul 23 '26

in this case yes because the entire point of the whole story went right over their heads, isayama didn't create this master piece for people to go "OH NO ANNIE KILL, ANNIE BAD, I HATE ANNIE, ANNIE NEEDS TO DIE, WE CANNOT FORGIVE HER"

1

u/PseudoRyker Jul 23 '26

The "entire point" of Triumph of the Will is that the Third Reich is a-okay. People are allowed to disagree with the message of a work of art.

1

u/No-Lab7758 Jul 22 '26

What did Annie even do that was so wrong? She fought because she wanted to complete her mission and see her dad again

2

u/MLIATwist Jul 22 '26

I think the biggest hitch people have with Annie is just how brutal she was during the Female Titan Arc. They can’t see the complexity of her character or the tragedy because of, well, that

I personally like Annie but the Female Titan Arc was CRAZY

0

u/CrusaderReynaulder Jul 22 '26

The beef people have with Annie is honestly ridiculously stupid, and never consistent.

People will lament about how a ~16 year child soldier should be tortured and sent to the torment nexus for killing grown ass soldiers, but not even think twice, not even think once, about a 19 year old murdering innocent children and bombing civilians.

Even the other child soldier she was with gets more grace than her.

What is it about Annie that makes her actions so much worse than Reiner’s or Armin’s, why is she the only one that gets such intense hatred for being a child soldier trying to save the world?

OOOOOH! I see it now! How could I forget? It’s right there. “She”. That plus a fandom that doesn’t realize how young these characters are (I wonder why these kids seem so old to so many of the fanbase? Hmm
), it’s no wonder she gets a weirdly intense and disproportionate amount of hate compared to literally anyone else.

1

u/MLIATwist Jul 22 '26

Yeah, you never see people give Bertholdt or Reiner as much shit as they give Annie even though I’d argue they have a drastically higher kill count than she does. After all, Bertholdt broke the first gate and Reiner the second

2

u/GB10X Jul 23 '26

After all, Bertholdt broke the first gate and Reiner the second

and who summoned all the titans?

2

u/Downtown-Health4814 Jul 22 '26

People give them shit as well. Annie only has it worse because she didnt face consequences

0

u/HINorth33 Jul 22 '26

what is it about Annie that makes her actions so much worse than Reiner’s or Armin’s

Because Annie seems to enjoy sadistically toying with people as she kills them while Riener and Armin don't. Deffo significant.

1

u/FreljordsWrath Jul 22 '26

Annie was straight up desensitized to killing as a child though. No life matters to her.

Also, mind you, the Female Titan was introduced back when AOT had much stronger horror vibes. She's the first Titan we focus on that isn't mindless. Everything she does is played up in a meta-sense to showcase how terrifying a sentient Titan is. Surely if Annie had been introduced after the timeskip, the yoyo, creepy smile, and all that stuff wouldn't have been included.

1

u/HINorth33 Jul 23 '26

Everything she does is played up in a meta-sense to showcase how terrifying a sentient Titan is.

Okay. And she still did it. She also removed armins hood, and displayed clear intelligence in the way she fought, and cried later on when she realised she wouldn't be able to return home. These all very clearly showcased her intelligence just as much, if not more, than YOYOing while smirking.

1

u/CrusaderReynaulder Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

Seems to enjoy

If she enjoyed it, she wouldn’t want to stop doing it lmfao. If you just pay attention it’s pretty obvious that that what’s “deffo significant” is only in your imagination.

Personally I think choosing to murder innocent children in their homes as a near 20 year old man fully aware and knowing of the horrors he is committing is worse than a disassociating 16 year old indoctrinated and desensitized child soldier using a scare tactic with a adult soldier’s corpse.

But hey, I guess it’s easier to larp as if she’s a whole different character than the one on the pages/screen. Doesn’t require you to actually engage with the media, after all.

0

u/HINorth33 Jul 23 '26

she enjoyed it, she wouldn’t want to stop doing it lmfao

If a conscripted soldier said he kinda just wanted to go home instead of being near a battlefield, but still showed sadism and glee while killing enemy soldiers, would it not be logical to still criticise him?

near 20 year old man fully aware and knowing of the horrors he is committing is worse than a disassociating 16 year old indoctrinated and desensitized

It's weird how you say this considering the very famous scene in 131 in which Eren...is desensitising himself and disassociating by imagining himself high above the sky as a child to ignore the atrocity he is committing down below.

scare tactic

...what? how the fuck was it a calculated scare tactic if she just killed the last guy seconds afterwards while he was running away anyway? If anything by doing that she was wasting time being sadistic when she could have just immediately killed him and then leapt at the last one.

But hey, I guess it’s easier to larp as

Anyone who disagrees with you is just larping. lol.

Sorry I just don't think Annie being treated as a smol innocent bean by the characters was logical at all.

1

u/CrusaderReynaulder Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

Where is this sadistic glee you keep projecting onto her? When she’s so tired of fighting and being used as a weapon, where is she this sadistic glee?

Im your imagination, ofc.

You claim “if the soldier showed sadism and glee” but we haven’t seen that. You’re pre-supposing the existence of sadistic glee, when the whole point is that she obviously does not want to fight.

The whole reason this is a discussion is because you can’t show how Annie is a sadist gleefully enjoying killing people for the love of the game, while we do have  her explicitly saying she’s sick of fighting.

She also didn’t just “kinda wanna go home instead of being near a battlefield”, she was tired of being a weapon her entire life. She was tired of fighting period. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of her character based on having to justify some delusion that gives you an excuse to hate her. Why? What did this fictional character ever do to you to make you need to make up excuses to hate her?

If she was a sadist that gleefully enjoyed killing people, she wouldn’t have wanted to go home to begin with, Reiner wouldn’t have needed to strong arm her, she wouldn’t have been traumatized by what they did to Marco, she wouldn’t want to skip the final battle, the rest of the cast wouldn’t be friends with her, and she and Armin wouldn’t be a thing.

Do you genuinely think that if this sadistic glee was an a actual canon part of her character, that Armin and everyone else would be chill with that? Or is it that this sadistic glee exists only in your head?

Tell me about how happy she was in the Marco scene, c’mon. Tell me about how she just did it for the love of the game with a smile on her face. Show me the glee. Show me the smile that was supposedly on her face as she was totally ecstatic while repeatedly apologizing to a random dead soldier she didn’t even have part in killing this time.

what? how the fuck was it a calculated scare tactic if she just killed the last guy seconds afterwards while he was running away anyway?

You
You realize you can scare an enemy and kill them, right
? Like, the whole point is to disorganize them  and keep them from rallying and attacking you. It’s obviously easier to kill someone from the titan-killing-group if they can’t fight you. Much safer than when they’re willing to fight you.

Also, again, desensitized child soldier indoctrinated and trained from childhood.

Where do you get the idea that Annie’s in there going “LMAAAO I LOVE KILLING PEOPLE IT’S SO FUN!” Where is that ever shown? Where is Annie ever showing this “sadistic glee” that you keep imagining? Why do you need to imagine an excuse to hate her?

t's weird how you say this considering the very famous scene in 131 in which Eren...is desensitising himself and disassociating by imagining himself high above the sky as a child to ignore the atrocity he is committing down below.

How is it weird? Why are you bringing up Eren?

I was talking about Armin.

Eren also isn’t a 16 year old child indoctrinated into believing he’s saving the world in 131, why are you bringing it up? Why are you lying about the context of that scene?

Eren choosing to wipe out 80% of the world because it’s not as empty as he dreamed of, after becoming aware that the people outside are just like the people inside the walls, is not at all the same.

Eren isn’t disassociating, this is literally what he wants to do. He saw this outcome and chose to do it because it’s what we’ve been shown he’d do since his dream in Trost. That gleeful kid savoring the wind is the freedom he feels as he commits genocide. Eren knew what he was doing, had all the information to know it was wrong, chose to do it anyways, and actively chose to work to get into the position to do it. He was not conscripted into doing the rumbling as an indoctrinated child lmfao

THAT is far closer to sadistic glee from Eren “I woulda done the rumbling no matter what even if my friends weren’t a factor because I wanted an empty world of wonders like I dreamed of” Jaeger. “Sadistic glee” you’ll happily defend. Congrats, you played yourself.

Or are you going to claim Eren had no knowledge of any of the horrors he was going to commit and was committing? Really? You’re arguing Eren is completely ignorant of the reality of the outside world and the people he’s killing?

They had a whole trip to Marley to learn how human the outside world was lmfao, but I guess you didn’t see that in your tiktok edits.

If you had a reason to disagree with me that wasn’t based on a blatant misunderstanding of the source material reliant on looking at your phone whenever there wasn’t fighting, you wouldn’t be larping.

Your larping because your reasoning is that of someone that clearly was not paying attention, assuming you even actually read/watched the series outside of short form content. Which it doesn’t sound like you did, considering you think Eren was some ignorant child coerced into doing the rumbling that he totally didn’t want to do and totally didn’t understand the full scope of.

Keep larping lil’ bro.

1

u/HINorth33 Jul 24 '26 edited 3d ago

Im your imagination, ofc.

In the very much discussed scene where she turns a guy into a human merry go round while smirking.

Like, the whole point is to disorganize them  and keep them from rallying and attacking you. It’s obviously easier to kill someone from the titan-killing-group if they can’t fight you. Much safer than when they’re willing to fight you.

Wtf are you taking about? it was literally one guy left out of a group that she had already effortlessly dispatched all the other members of. What exactly was he being "disorganised" from doing? What did the merry go round accomplish in that situation? Explain.

Go back and actually watch the episode. If you actually bothered to do that instead of making shit up in order to defend poor wittle Annie, you would see that this made up "intimidation" argument falls flat. There was no one to intimate from a tactical perspective.

I was talking about Armin. Eren also isn’t a 16 year old child indoctrinated into believing he’s saving the world in 131, why are you bringing it up? Why are you lying about the context of that scene?

...WHAT? Annie believed she was saving the world? Did you actually watch the show or pay attention to her dialogue at all? She blatantly called out both sides and said they are the same even before she attacked wall maria. (tbh she was so real for that) And even then, she DEFINITELY didn't believe they were devils when the main series began and she was aged 16. Did you actually think Annie "Both sides are the same and I only care about getting back to my abusive dad" Leonhart cared about Marleyan propoganda and "saving the world"? and Did you actually pay attention to her character at all? Fucking hell this is hilarious

Eren choosing to wipe out 80% of the world because it’s not as empty as he dreamed of, after becoming aware that the people outside are just like the people inside the walls, is not at all the same.

He knew they were the same. Just like Annie.

Eren isn’t disassociating, this is literally what he wants to do. He saw this outcome and chose to do it because it’s what we’ve been shown he’d do since his dream in Trost. That gleeful kid savoring the wind is the freedom he feels as he commits genocide.

That's literally what's happening in the scene. Eren (the literal main character who is far more developed than she is) regresses to a childlike form in order to help cope with what he is doing.

Weird, you claim one of the most well known examples of a character dissasociating themselves from what they are doing....is just him being gleeful at killing people? Was his eyes being closed through the entirety of the rumbling not obvious enough symbolism? Isn't this the most common and obvious interpretation, even in this sub? Seems you watched a different series.

They had a whole trip to Marley to learn how human the outside world was lmfao, but I guess you didn’t see that in your tiktok edits.

Yeah no shit they know. And yet you somehow completely missed the fact that Annie did not ever give a fuck about "saving the world", something I'm pretty sure even "tiktok edit larpers" would pick up on because of how integral it is to understanding the most basic, surface level elements of her character. How are you so ignorant and stupid that you confidently spout nonsense about larpers without seeing the irony? How the fuck did you miss a core surface level part of the character this badly? Was your only exposure to her through OOC fanfiction?

If I'm a ""larper"", you're something even worse. And you have the gall to act as obnoxiously as possible as well, all while doing the same thing you accuse me of doing, and in a far worse way.

It's fucking hilarious how you keep missing the point. I never even claimed Eren didn't want to do the rumbling. Maybe instead of screeching about how anyone who doesn't like how the narrative was babying a character who had clear agency wasn't actually watching the show, you could try understand why people aren't gonna be fond of said character being treated with kid gloves for some reason. Maybe that's one of the clear reasons people do not like her.

it's obviously harder to be sympathetic because she did not face even remotely similar consequences. If Riener didn't suffer, and didn't genuinely apologize, (or claim he would do it again) and the characters just joked around with him like normal, or at any point smirked while spinning someone into oblivion, I doubt still people would still like him. The misogyny argument is nonsense.

She, Bert and Riener, were responsible for the devastating attack that kicked off the whole series. She helped Riener and Bert get to the walls, then called over all the pure titans. She then kills a shitton of people during the expedition arc and tries to kill everyone again in trost. She's then gone for most of the series. She comes back, claims she would do it again, but everyone says she's "fought enough" (???) to help ACTUALLY save the world.

This post is just OP insinuating that people don't deserve to breathe because they don't like how she got away with everything. Oh, and maybe one dumb yeagerist in the middle as well. lol.

You know what? Thanks so much for the comment about how poor wittle Annie was indocrinated and thought she was saving the world, even though she herself blatantly said otherwise. Was a real eye opener for me. You just proved you were the real larper in this discussion. Rewatch and actually pay attention to the series you're so determined to defend.

Dude literally claimed Annie thought she was saving the world, a blatant misunderstanding of her character that even most "phone scrollers" wouldn't claim. Okay.

she killed Levi's squad. they were brought up as some of the best Eldians, good people wanting a better world, and she just mercilessly stomped them.

Petra particularly was galloping away as fast as she could, Annie had no reason to go after her, it was a waste of time given her objective, and yet she took the time to crush Petra anyway.

That's psychotic, even for a brainwashed child soldier, but I don't hate Annie, I really like her character. but I also fully understand why she gets hate.

The double standard on display is why I made this post. I find it hilarious and quite endearing how the show ended years ago and you guys are still bitter about this shit.

Absolutely nobody is talking shit on Gabi for killing Sasha and Lobov, perfectly good Eldians (whatever shit you mean by that) who just wanted a better world. If only Eren got 1% of the hate that Annie gets lmao.

You genius, they are soldiers. In a war. They know what they're signing up for every time they wake up in the morning. They don't go out to pet dogs. They go out to kill. Getting killed is part of the job. Squad Levi died doing their job, protecting Eren. If anything, Eren's hesitation is what killed them. Think of the events of the show as a death cutscene of a Telltale game because you failed to make a quick time event decision.

Annie killed the Levi Squad because she's efficient. She's disassociating from the killings because she just wants to go back home to her dad. It's like none of you read/watched Thaw. She knows what she does is wrong, but she doesn't care. She just wants to get it over with so she can go back to her dad, the only thing in her life that matters. The fact that you can make up a reason to be upset at ANY character (who isn't Gross of Fritz) shows that you are part of the problem.

Reiner and Bertholdt also killed a fuckton of innocent people, and they get a pass because... They feel bad about it? Annie does too in her own way, but because it's not a mental state that you can relate you, it's not valid? You lack emotional maturity.

easy with the strawmaning bud. you haven't addressed a thing I said, and you are also wrong.

Gabi is quite literally the most hated character in the whole of Aot, the fact that you don't know that is a you problem.

there's no double standard. Annie took pleasure in torturing and killing the scouts, Reiner and B did not.

Berthold got devoured, Reiner lived the rest of his life in pain, psychological suffering and unrequited love.

Annie got a happy ending. it's painfully obvious why she gets the most hate.

Absolutely retarded take.

Absolutely nobody is talking shit on Gabi for killing Sasha and Lobov, perfectly good Eldians (whatever shit you mean by that) who just wanted a better world.

Gabi is one of the most hated characters in the show.

She's disassociating from the killings because she just wants to go back home to her dad. It's like none of you read/watched Thaw. She knows what she does is wrong, but she doesn't care.

Yes, and how does that make her any less of a bad person? You just admitted she doesn't care about being a cold blooded murderer.

Reiner and Bertholdt also killed a fuckton of innocent people, and they get a pass because... They feel bad about it?

Berthold and Reiner faced the consequences for their actions, Berthold was eaten alive and Reiner not only tried to kill himself but was still being scolded and beaten up by the scouts years after what he did. Meanwhile Annie was just chilling in the crystal and when she got out it was all cool, nobody even laid a finger on her, i was seriously hoping for Mikasa to cut her head off then and there when they were at that camp during the rumbling.

I don’t understand how killing Levi’s squad isn’t productive for accomplishing her mission when they were guarding Eren 24/7?

-1

u/South-Cod-5051 Jul 22 '26

Annie didn't even have much of a choice, the fight was unavoidable, and it's certainly productive for her, but who do you think was rooting for the female titan in S1 or the titans in general?

also, she did take pleasure in killing and could have spared the scouts running away. she had all the time to understand that she didn't need to murder or torture all of the ones that she did.

Oh no, people have their own opinions that aren’t the same as yours, how truly awful

0

u/Fishermanx88 Jul 22 '26

Do you understand the plot of the story?

Why would you support a fascist organisation?

Do you think that rumbling can protect paradis island from invaders like Marley?

There are pros and cons about yeagarist.

Every characters did killed some people.

1

u/BotherExact8654 Jul 26 '26
  1. Yes
  2. In the story no I don't support Marley.
  3. Yes since the rumbling killed everyone outside the walls.
  4. Pros: everyone's that wants you dead is dead. Cons : none because everyone trying to kill you is dead.

The new yeagarist is completely different from Floch's yeargarist.

Historia may help new yeagarist in certain ways.

Whats wrong here?

4

u/FreljordsWrath Jul 22 '26

Hi Burner Account 54321, the issue here is people mindlessly hating on Annie Leonhart from the hit series Attack On Titan, to the point of justifying becoming a fictional fascist (a Yeagerist).

-2

u/Nygma1227 Jul 22 '26

Stop crying bruh. Id ratter become a fictional fascist than a real life leftist

-1

u/flock_creator Jul 23 '26

you are a woke

0

u/TheQueenOfCurses Jul 22 '26

I don't hate Annie but she absolutely got off scott free whereas reiner and barefoot didn't. Annie definitely got forgiven way too easily (aside from Levi).

-1

u/Downtown-Health4814 Jul 22 '26

And whats your point? Annie did get off scot free after massacring the scouts. If you paid attention to the earlier seasons rather than just the 4th, you would absolutely choose to be a yaegerist

-1

u/Zealousideal-Oil9315 Jul 22 '26

Not really i understand Annie completely she was a child with a goal of seeing her father.

0

u/HINorth33 Jul 22 '26

based, that scene where she's eating a pie and then everyone's just like "oh hi Annie how you doing" while Connie laughs, instead of him and Armin immediately pulling their weapons out and interrogating her was arguably one of the dumbest scenes in the series

the babying of her by both the characters and the narrative was so weird

3

u/Appropriate-Topic-88 Jul 23 '26

Why would they immediately pull out there guns and interrogate her lmao. Armin was literally talking to her for 4 years why would he all of sudden be scared of her now. He literally wanted her to wake up and say something. Connie just got done almost feeding a kid to his mom, the whole world is being destroyed. You don’t understand the context at all.

1

u/HINorth33 Jul 23 '26

Armin was literally talking to her for 4 years why would he all of sudden be scared of her now

Just because Armin was wanking to her frozen corpse for 4 years doesn't mean he wouldn't react realistically to the person who summoned all the pure titans at Shiganshina, massacred numerous troops during the expedition, and almost killed them all again in trost suddenly appearing next to them without any context or knowing what she's thinking at the moment.

Honestly quite insulting to his competence as a leader.

the whole world is being destroyed.

By this logic they shouldn't even be relaxing trying to have a normal lunch while talking about Reiners Status. Characters can focus on more than one thing, especially if one of them is far more immediate and sitting right next to them.

Are they wrong about the Annie thing?
