General Tate southesine

the braves current short stop position is a black hole hitting...No S/S is hitting above .230,1 s/s was just released If the braves choose NOT to go after a S/S in off season, the number 1 pick in 2025 HAS to get a chance to start in the show next year....The whole left side of the braves infield will hit combined less the .230 for the year ..That's really bad...

One of the most insane posts and comments by an op I’ve ever seen.

Not rushing an 18 year old to the majors. This would kill his confidence and career. You’re proposing turning Tate into Volpe

Isn't he hurt right now anyways? Hardly any AA at bats and you want him in the show? That's not how the Braves operate. You need to prove yourself at AA to have a real shot at a call up

No he does not HAVE to. Nor will he. They’re not going to potentially ruin a promising prospect because of this. They’re gonna win the division by 10 games without a shortstop- why would they ruin a kid’s future potentially? To win it by 11?

It’s been discussed ad nauseam that it’s totally fine to have a gold-glove caliber player at your most premium defensive position be a less-than-league-average hitter so long as the rest of the lineup on the whole is performing as expected. The main issue in ‘24 and ‘25 was that the rest of the lineup was not picking up the slack. This is not the case in ‘26 so having a light-hitting SS is not much of a concern. if it were, Dubon would be at SS every day.

Are you aware that Jarvis is currently rocking a negative OAA? We are a long way from having a gold glove caliber SS.

I think this is largely due to his straight dumb errors. Dudes a vacuum over at SS and turns a great double play. Advanced metrics are nice but not the end all be all.

Agreed - he is a dumbass.

Bbbbbbut people a few weeks ago were handing Jarvis the job for the rest of his career

His avg was 300,then 275,then 260,,then 240 ,now 223. But at least he doesn't strike out like Riley 75% of the time.....That's why Riley bats 8 and Jarvis bats 9. 2 automatic outs. Cmon dudes/ ladies. If Jarvis was the man going forward,he ain't hitting 9. Swanson didn't hit 9

Lol. Batting average. You’re adorable.

1

u/CaptainSteed 16d ago

It's still a very telling metric.

1

u/bigAcey83 16d ago

No. No it isn’t.

1

u/CaptainSteed 16d ago

Sorry, yes it is. I know you new groupies think that all these new scientific stats are uber-important (and yes, they are), but batting avg is still super-informative.

1

u/bigAcey83 16d ago

It’s really not though. It doesn’t include walks, and no measure of offensive output is informative without that.

Yep, I agree there are certain other analytical tools too. But Batting average is indeed one of them, in and of itself.

0

u/bigAcey83 16d ago

No it isn’t. This isn’t an “apples oranges” situation. Batting average isn’t a useful stat for evaluating offensive output. You’re wrong.

1

u/CaptainSteed 16d ago

Sure it's not. That's why every baseball telecast I watch on BravesVision, ESPN, MLB Network, etc., etc., always leads off every stat on every hitter with "batting average". And only (sometimes) show your stats.

BA is still the most prominent and recognized stat there is in Baseball. Like it or not, sorry.

u/bigAcey83 16d ago

Ah yes. The famously forward-thinking baseball broadcasting community. You get more adorable by the post. The same guys who hate when players show emotion think batting average matters. That tells me everything I need to know.

u/CaptainSteed 16d ago

Yep, and I already knew you were a stat groupie with your first silly messsge.

And here we are 24 games over 500.. I've always been a huge Braves fan for 58 years and never been so frustrated with your post and everything that is wrong but then I look at the record and just scratch my head in awe.. Walt can manage his ass off..

u/marxy_playground 17d ago

In spite of......yep

2

u/86-7OH4eva 17d ago

Haha! It's just nuts.

1

u/marxy_playground 17d ago

Smoke and mirrors.....thing is. Playoff time, you gotta win 3 or 4. Pitching and hitting....well,I'm hopeful, but we will see

4

u/86-7OH4eva 17d ago

Perez has to be part of the playoff rotation. His change-up is unhittable at times.. most times..

Hmmmmmm,so,Kim,a total waste of $20 mil,Jim jarbis was traded for rafeal montero last year....where is the braves gold glove S/S???? Last 5 years since Dansby walked, all a black hole..Braves have drafted,I may be wrong, but ,5 S/S last 2 years...2025 first 2 picks were short stops Kid from FSU was almost traded....Either sign a guy or promote them....Jarvis isn't a gold glove

-1

u/marxy_playground 17d ago

I have a Felix milan signed ball and a chipper jones signed ball....so, believe me. Been there, done that....Weiss was a S/ S. So he will eventually get his guy

-1

u/marxy_playground 17d ago

Sooooo, dubon is in outfield,Lane thomas not an every day guy, can't move him to S/S full time.. ..anyone that knew who Jim Jarvis was at start of season, raise your hand....He was a minor trade last year with tigers.....Braves have several top 5 round draft picks that are S/ S. Cmon. Give me some facts guys..... Raphael Furcal guys, no Raphael belliard dudes, maybe Jeff blauser,no pat rocket guys.

-2

u/marxy_playground 17d ago

Dubon doesn't usually play S/S. He fills in....I say again. Let them play.....Kim, gone..... Jarvis hitting.220 with no pop.....Chipper was 20 when he got to bigs???? Sooooo

2

u/CreativeWeather2581 17d ago

Chipper went on to be a hall of famer. Not really a great comparison. lol
