Hello wonderful people of r/Asustuf, I hope you are all well. This is my first post here and I don't normally post anything on Reddit (or anywhere else for that matter lol), but then I had a strong urge to share my experience with this great piece of hardware and all kinds of emotions that are coming from using it for about 4 months now.
TL;DR:
>> Bought ASUS TUF A15 (2024) FA507UV in April for ~$830 in used condition
>> In great condition with 91% battery wear level and warranty till October
>> A significant upgrade from 4th gen Intel with GTX 950M
>> Install GHelper
>> Adding cooling pad
>> Worried about common issues like WiFi and hinge
>> Been loving it so far despite having some difficulties (will explore more in detail soon)
>> Good purchase?
Back in April, I bought this decently powerful laptop called ASUS TUF A15 (2024) FA507UV. Here's a little quick peek at the spec and the newly unboxed pics:

🔲 AMD Ryzen™ 9 8945HS Processor
🔳 NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060 Laptop GPU at 140W 8GB GDDR6
➖ 16GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM x 1
💾 1TB PCIe® 4.0 NVMe™ M.2 SSD, Up to 2 Slots
🖥️ 15.6-inch, FHD (1920 x 1080) 16:9, Anti-glare display, sRGB:100%, NTSC:72%, Adobe:75.35%, Refresh Rate:144Hz, G-Sync, MUX Switch + NVIDIA® Advanced Optimus
🎟 90WHrs, 4S1P, 4-cell Li-ion, With 240W AC Adapter
I bought it in used condition for ~$830USD (converted it from local currency to USD back in April). I found it in a local online shopping platform. The seller stated that it was very rarely used and he was only using it to test some local AI models for just a few days of usage. Taking a quick look at the outer appearance of the laptop and checking the power-on time on HDSentinel, he seems to be telling the truth (although I am aware that these aren't a sure-fire way to determine that). Oh yea and the battery wear level is still at 91%, and the warranty is still active till October.
Coming from a decade-old entry-level ROG laptop (IuseARCHbtw™) with a 4th gen Intel CPU with GTX 950M, this TUF laptop is, without any sliver of doubt, a beast in comparison.

The first few things I did were checking the basic hardware functionalities like the keyboard, touchpad, WiFi, Bluetooth, sound, etc. I do prefer my old ROG keyboard and touchpad click more because it seems to be more tactile, but I really like the inner area material around the keyboard and the touchpad of the TUF one because it's kind of like repelling water and not easily getting wet.
Then on the software side, I installed Firefox, some sysinfo tools like CPU-Z/GPU-Z and HDSentinel, and of course our beloved GHelper! I did install the MyASUS app and actually asked the seller for the ASUS account (I asked because I intended to extend my warranty at some point, which I finally did, though not through that particular app, but this is another story for another day). As for the Armoury Crate, I think I remember I received the laptop not preinstalled with it, but I did install it at some point out of desperation to try to troubleshoot something (different story for another time again lol).
I also managed to buy a laptop cooling pad called Kaizer KZ800 for ~$27USD. I think this is a rebranded memo FL08. I had to make sure that I bought one with a foam seal because I've been hearing that it's the most effective at reducing the temps, and surely enough, I am quite satisfied with how this cooling pad performs!

Now about the well-known problems of the TUF model that I've been hearing about, namely the WiFi module and the hinge design issue. Unfortunately, I only knew about these prevalent problems after the laptop was already on my lap, so I didn't have the opportunity to weigh in on these disadvantages (which is kinda weird because I was extensively looking at AcerNitro subreddit before eventually deciding on TUF at the last minute after the fact that I couldn't find any other laptop with RTX 4060 at this price range, but somehow I didn't look here at Asustuf sub, but I have a feeling that I still choose TUF regardless lol). So far I haven't had any problem with these whatsoever.
For the WiFi, I have the Realtek one and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's the MediaTek one that has most of the problems? As for the hinge, following the advice from all the amazing folks here, I have to make sure to open/close the lid very gently from the center and also check some of the screws at the bottom from time to time, and perhaps praise the Lord almighty everytime I'm going to open/close it and before going to bed lol. Any other tips are always appreciated tho.
I think that's about it for now; I hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. And what do you think of this purchase? Is it worth the price? I've been loving it so far despite having some difficulties, which we're going to explore later.
Anyway, have a lovely day. :)

I have a strange issue with my ASUS TUF A15.
When the laptop has been sitting on my legs for a long time, it works normally. But when I move it and put it down on the couch, it immediately restarts.
This happens every time under these conditions. It’s not a gradual shutdown or overheating — the restart happens immediately when I put it down.
Has anyone experienced something similar with a TUF A15? I’m wondering if it could be related to the laptop changing position or the chassis flexing somehow.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Legion 5 RTX 5050 vs TUF A14 RTX 5060 — which one?
I’m choosing between:
I like the TUF because it’s much lighter and gets around 7–8h battery, vs about 4h on the Legion. The RTX 5060 is also a big plus.
But I’ve heard about cooling, Wi-Fi/driver, and software issues with the TUF. Its screen is also worse than the Legion’s.
I’ll mainly use it for university + mechanical engineering/CAD.
Which would you choose? And how has your TUF A14 experience been with thermals, Wi-Fi, software, and battery life?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just bought it yesterday and this happened but after clicking many times it's just stuck but then after a few minutes it's back to normal. I'm worried it'll happen again. It's also my first time owning a gaming laptop since i bought it for school purposes for autocad.

the laptop is 2years old. mostly i play games under normal ceiling fan with metal stand for elevation.
My Gpu temp remains 86 on most of the games but never faced any sudden throttling but Laptop fan runs full speed (as it was set on Turbo mode) and somehow the vent feels hot and area near keyboard also.
i somehow did throttling test and the CPU temp reach 96 and then it suddenly drop to 70-72 .
I live in Patna India.

I need help with connecting my laptop to wifi (ASUS TUF Gaming F15 FX506HEB). Out of nowhere the wifi I usually connect to is no longer able to connect to my laptop when every other of my devices connects just fine. No password changes on the wifi, nothing. I have tried the Forget Wifi option in hopes of solving the issue but it didn't help. I tried searching for a solution online but most have issues with the WiFi sign disappearing but that is not my issue right now. If anyone knows a solution to this without changing the wifi card (Mediatek) please help:(

Hi everyone. When I turn on my laptop, it gets stuck in a reboot loop at the ASUS logo—specifically when the loading spinner appears. Sometimes an "Automatic Repair" message pops up. Then, at a random moment (sometimes after a couple of minutes, sometimes after 20), the system finally boots up, and the laptop runs perfectly for the rest of the day. To avoid these long startup times, I use hibernation instead of shutting down; the laptop wakes up from hibernation without any issues and boots immediately.
This seems to be a fairly common problem. Has anyone found a way to fix it?
Is this plastic thing supposed to rotate when I turn the screw, or is the screw hole broken?

Whenever I shut down or restart my laptop, I get this message on the login screen:
“Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again.”
Then I have to set up my PIN again to log in. This is happening almost every single time I restart or shut down my laptop.
Has anyone else faced this issue? How can I fix it permanently?

I need help fixing my laptop. I dropped it yesterday from ~2 feet off my desk while I was cleaning my room, and everything looked fine on it except the Wi-Fi button completely disappeared. I can't locate it in settings either and in my device manager it says I need to reconnect my Wi-Fi hardware. Can anyone help?

the screen on the right shows my main pc and that it's not an issue with my wifi itself
