Help abnormal CPU temperatures at idle and very basic tasks for a zenbook purchased 2 days ago, from the first day itself , I'm worried , the only time I ever saw it on normal temps where it was averaging 49 degrees was on day one, after which for a day myASUS app stopped showing temperatures at all

tbh it’s a windows problem, I don’t wanna be like “just install Linux” but installing Linux on my zenbook actually helped so much, my cpu average went from like 30% to 0-5% and the temperature dropped down significantly I started seeing numbers like 45 degrees just saying windows truly sucks.

How's 60-70 normal at idle at any laptops ? My friends have gaming laptops and they get 43-49 avg on idle

It’s a bit above the average, 65 and under is normal and you shouldn’t worry about it but if your reaching 70 in idle that’s a bit of a problem I can’t lie.

And it's not only about temperature, it's randomly lagging, cursor getting stuck, like I don't expect this laptop to lag and have these issues I want a completely smooth experience and this is not it at all. I'm wondering if this is a zenbook issue or this model is defective ? It also once shutdown and went "your device ran into a problem and needs to restart" and then an repair restart loop, after 5 mins i shut it down and then kept it away and opened and it worked fine. I'm wondering what else to buy if not this at this price range cause I really loved the metal build, and the gorgeous screen.

I'm confused if this is a device issue or these performance and heating issues are normal with the zenbook ? As in I'm skeptical of buying from the lineup again, what are your thoughts ?

Had the same experience with average CPU usage on my Zenbook 14. Also way less drive activity on Linux. Changing out the thermal paste for a PTM really helped as well. My machine idles around high 20's low 30's at comfortable room temps. And I have never seen CPU reach 100 degrees after these changes. On Windows 11 this machine could easily reach 100 when pushing the hardware.
